Summary
Mega Man ZX Advent follows two heroes, Grey and Ashe, on two separate but intertwining adventures as they search for answers amidst a chaotic war between humans and robots. They fight against a menacing, evil force in a battle unprecedented in the Mega Man series. The title takes full advantage of the Nintendo DS features to enhance the action-packed gameplay and story line of the popular series. A dynamic "Biometal" system is central to gameplay, allowing players the ability to change into several forms, including eight bosses, each with a variety of unique abilities and powers. With a touch of the Nintendo DS screen, players can easily switch back and forth between the Biometal and Map navigation screens. Bosses can be fought in several different ways, testing players' skills and rewarding them with nearly 24 different items depending on how they take on a boss. Co-op and head-to-head two player wireless play (two cartridges required). Two-player downloadable mini-game (one cartridge required). [Capcom]

Zentendo
Excellent gameplay, challenge and visuals. Voice work and story are the only low marks.

Together with the wonderfully integrated story and action-RPG accoutrements, ZXA is yet another 2D diamond from Capcom. [Nov 2007, p.74]
Nintendo Power
As devotees will tell you, platform action doesn't get much better than what Mega Man dishes out, and Mega Man ZX Advent lives up to that reputation. [Dec 2007, p.85]
Console Gameworld
While the Mega Man series have seen some high points and low points over the last twenty years, Mega Man ZX Advent hits the bullseye. You can't go wrong by purchasing this well crafted title.

While it’s certainly not for everyone, Mega Man ZX Advent offers some of the best 2D shooter action in years.

A hugely enjoyable quest that deserves more appreciation in the UK. [May 2008, p.85]
GameDaily
Throwing in some quality animated scenes and voice acting, on top of two interlocking campaign modes and some fun mini games for two players, makes this one of the better games in the long running franchise.

Overall, Mega Man ZX Advent reinvents the wheel in a way, but it still spins just as well as it ever has.

It fixes the main problem with the original ZX, throws in some other major improvements besides, and keeps everything that almost made ZX a classic to begin with.
Read Full Review >Video Game Talk
The game features a ton of solid gameplay with enough improvements over the original to take note of.

Mega Man ZX Advent is a great Mega Man game that inspires memories of former glory while hinting at the possibility of a bright future both for a character that most gamers holds dear and a sweet little system that is more than capable of handling whatever the developers throw at it.

It's a game that feels like Mega Man X with an environment more akin to a handheld Castlevania title. There's nothing wrong with that. Add in two playable characters, a load of optional collectables, and a great environment, and you got yourself a rock solid game.

The complete package looks and feels polished - the simple 2D graphics are colorful and manage to cram tiny details into the DS screen, while the controls are as tight as you would expect from a Mega Man game. After all these years, its amazing the formula hasn't strayed too far from the original.

A fluid run-jump-fire actioner with something new at every turn. [JPN Import; Oct 2007, p.72]
Game Informer
Fight some robots, find some secret rooms, and enjoy the evolution of one of the most memorable heroes in gaming. [Nov 2007, p.162]
Thunderbolt
Advent is clearly a step backwards in this regard and this only serves to prolong the stagnating circumstances that the series is currently in. That said, the game is still as much of a blast as the first one was with more forms to assimilate, plenty of crazy boss fights (those who complete Expert Mode deserve much respect), better production values, and an overall smoother ride.

Mega Man ZX Advent walks a thin line between challenging and infuriatingly difficult, while bringing along a number of new tricks and improvements for the journey.

A revolution in gaming it's not, but it fits comfortably into its fan-oriented niche&and it plays well in the process.

Even with a few notable annoyances, ZX Advent is a fun and addictive action game with plenty of clever level designs and fun abilities.
Read Full Review >Maxi Consolas (Portugal)
Following the steps of old GBA games of the same franchise, it doesn’t offer anything new. But it still manages to be addictive for player who like old fashion games, with a nice 2D and a difficulty level that can lead who to throw your DS against a wall. [March 2008]
GotNext
ZX Advent packs an ample challenge that will chase away many of those groomed on easier 2D action games like the recent Castlevanias.

The old school difficult may turn a lot of gamers off, but the gameplay is solid and the power/appearance assimilation is fun.
Advent is a solid entry in one of gaming's longest running franchises, but it doesn't do anything to bring the series to a new generation of gamers.
Mega Man ZX Advent tries to outdo the last game in the series, and in doing so actually ends up as a less satisfying experience.
ZX Advent delivers a solid 2D platformer that is difficult to find elsewhere, forcing a players to rely pretty heavily on their skill to see them through. Mega Man fans will have their desire sated.
There's no denying, however, that the platforming feels a little tired and the constant blibbering of the characters is rather trite.

1aurent gave it a5:
Mega Man Advent ZX was a disappointing experience, too easy in the beginning, the last boss is almost impossible. took me 8 hours to go trough the entire game. the controls felt great and the transforamtions too but these 8 hours aren't worth 40$.
Yahshua F. gave it a9:
This is an excellent megaman game and one of the most challenging and entertaining i've seen yet worthy of better platforms.
MegaManFan X gave it a9:
With it's great Music, amazing level design, and Intense Battles, Mega Man ZX Advent is a great game. My only beef is the voice acting, ecspecially Argoyle and Ugoyle. *shudders*
Syl D. gave it a10:
Mega Man ZX Advent is a breathe of fresh air to the Mega Man franchise, going as far as to say it almost feels like an X game on the DS. The ZERO series already had that X1-X3 feel, ZX was just unpolished. ZXA brings it home, what 2D Mega Man on the DS should be, and a bit more.
