BonusStage
The game could just have easily been another GBA game due to its shortage of innovative uses of the DS technology, however no matter what the handheld home there’s plenty of beat’em-up fun for Ninja Turtle nuts to enjoy, and a healthy kick in the pants in terms of difficulty to boot.

Next Level Gaming
The younger generation will probably enjoy this one, but anyone who remembers Rocksteady and Bebop shouldn’t even bother.

Console Gameworld
Mutant Nightmare isn't going to blow anyone away, but it can provide a bit of entertaining ninja action when you just need something to occupy your time.

62
Gaming Horizon
Pick it up if you really love the Ninja Turtles, because although the game does have more merits than its console brethren, that’s not saying much.

61
GameSpot
Mutant Nightmare is a good beat-'em-up at heart, but it's totally bogged down by platforming elements, puzzles, and touch screen features that don't work, not to mention stuffy controls.

60
Nintendo Power
A solid play, but not an advancement for Turtlekind. [Dec 2005, p.112]

IGN
This DS title could certainly be worse than what it is, but at the very least it's missing that spark that those classic TMNT action games had.

60
GameZone
Merely just a so-so experience that has its share of good and not-so good moments.

40
Game Informer
Dense with the most boring, tedious, and limp gameplay this side of sewer-water. [Nov 2005, p.180]

GameSpy
Mutant Nightmare, while wholly competent, goes down like pabulum and possesses all the (as the kids are wont to say) mad flava of boiled water.
