Worth Playing
Most of its facets are somewhat sub-par, but the sheer addictive gameplay available in the title makes it perfect for the pick-up-and-play casual crowd.

Touchmaster isn’t going to win any visual or technical achievements, but it is addicting enough to merit the 30 dollar price tag, and then some.

To my surprise Touchmaster really did capture what a good compilation is made of.

TouchMaster might not be the deepest or the most rewarding game to ever hit the DS, but it is a lot of fun.

If you're looking for something a little less straightforward than "Clubhouse Games" but not quite as quirky as "Brain Age", then this one's for you. [Sep 2007, p.85]
IGN
The interface is no-frills and the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection system’s a little too clunky, but TouchMaster’s a decent collection of condensed, casual mini-games. Some are better than others, but none are tremendously terrible. It's, at the very least, a nice compilation for the quick pick-up-and-play experience.

Really the only crime Touchmaster commits is not being upgraded with any extra features. You get exactly what you see here and while this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it can leave some gamers who have come to expect loads of extra content a bit disappointed in the end.

Fans of card and parlor games will find some good stuff here, even though they’ll have to shuffle through the various games included here to find it. Just keep in mind that you can play games just like these for free on your PC.

The title has plenty of games to keep you coming back for more, especially when you're traveling, which is when portable games come especially handy!

Touchmaster will definitely appeal to fans of the puzzle genre, but while 23 games in one package sounds like a lot, they're not all going to be suited to your tastes.

Just don’t expect anything revolutionary…and make sure you play it with the sound turned down; the music sounds like it was whipped up on a circa-1988 Casio keyboard.

Like having a pint at home on your own, TouchMaster just can't hope to compete with the allure of a good old boozer.

In the end, Touchmaster should happily suit those who can't play the games at a tavern or seek out something a little derivative on the old attention-span.

If you've got a penchant for dumping quarters in the traditional machines at local bars, Touchmaster is for you.

For casual gamers seeking virtual checkers, solitaire, and other simple board and Web games, this might be enough. But for the rest of us, TouchMaster isn’t worth touching.

TouchMaster is rough around the edges, but at least it isn't a cell-phone game.

The terrible presentation and the tiny icons won't endear themselves to the crusty purne-eyes belonging to their target audience. [Aug 2007, p.71]

Ed S. gave it a2:
Being one of the developers of the original Touchmaster, I find the version made for the DS to be highly disappointing. The game is riddled with bugs and had been modified with lame game play. What was surprising was that the Midway development team was given all the original game code and artwork. Apparently, the game team decided to "improve" upon the game design ruining the flow of the game. The graphics could had been scaled properly to fit the DS screen and they could had used the top screen to allow more information and game play. It is unfortunate that the Midway team and management botched such an easy port of a proven game system. I guess this is yet another one of the resaons that Midway as a company is performing so poorly. Don't waste your money on this poor implementation of a casual game.
Scott B. gave it a9:
If you rate your games based on VALUE, then Touchmaster is top shelf! The graphics are a little small for the DS screen, but it's very functional. If you like arcade style puzzle games, you can't beat 23 on one cartridge. In addition to the fun of trying to beat your previous efforts (with a top 10 list for every game), you can play multi-player ... and match your scores against people far far away. These games are designed to swallow quarters, and those are some of the most compelling. If you are like me, you will have problems putting it down. Much better value than almost every Ninendo DS game I have played to date.
Matt B. gave it an8:
This game is such a great time killer. My wife and I spent 24 hours in an Airport and this game got us through the night. Only down side is the online mode is still confusing.
John L. gave it an8:
The game is strangely addictive. I have been playing with my wife and the competition is fierce. We're nowhere on the top 10 lists on the ranking page but we're aiming for a couple. Definitely a keeper.
Wendell P. gave it a7:
NGamer UK needs to fire their reviewers and start fresh. The games included in this collection is very similar to those found in the table top bar/pub machines. These games could get a little boring after a while just like they do in the bars.
