Compelling single player game consisting of 13 unique missions. 9 unique multiplayer maps for Local or Global games, with small, medium and large map variants to cater for games from 2 to 8 players. Fully destructible, real time 3D battlefields mean that no two games will be the same. Pick from two Space Marine chapters or two Chaos Space Marine Legions to play as in Multiplayer games, in battles between Imperium vs. Imperium, Forces of Chaos vs. Forces of Chaos, or Imperium vs. Forces of Chaos.

The lack of a grid is probably the biggest pull-down for this game; if it had been a bit more structured, it could have really been great. But that problem doesn't negate all the good things about this game. It's still addictive, and it's still fun. Squad Command may not be the best strategy game out there, but it's by no means the worst.

The visual downgrade from the PSP to DS version make this a better bet on Sony's platform. Still, if you're a DS owner who's already conquered Advance Wars multiple times over, and are tiring of the brimming mini-game and sim line-up, you might appreciate this turn-based tactical title.

Despite the laundry list of problems that plague Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command and pervade this review, the game can be fun at times. That is if you're willing to fight through the frustration of playing through missions multiple times, either to cheat to find enemy positions or because you got smoked by an enemy tank off-screen.

This is a difficult one, the missions look and play extremely well so this should score highly, but due to the sheer lack of substance outside of those missions means you'll struggle to build an emotional attachment to the game and without a solid scenarios to drive you onto the next level you'll put it down as quickly as you pick it up.
