The game gives you too many handicaps and leaves an unsavory taste of an unbalanced fighter. Even with these minor faults, Battle Assault is an excellent handheld fighter and still recommended.

Typical of the genre and is your basic side-scrolling, two-dimensional fighter. If you are not looking for anything more, you may want to give it a look.

It just feels as though everything in the game (like the extra modes) is either tacked on, or has an equal setback for every positive stride it makes.

Fans of the series will no doubt like the ability to test the relative strengths and weaknesses of, say, the GAT-X103 versus the GAT-X207, but gamers unfamiliar with mobile suit mythology won't get that same buzz.

A strong GBA fighter with great control. [Dec 2004, p.150]

The thought of turning epic Gundam combat into a fighting game is quite awesome, but Battle Assault falls far short of its potential. The story and characters are almost non-existent, giving you a game with little personality.

From muddy graphics to the weak mechanics, this simply is not a title with any lasting appeal, even to Gundam Seed fans.

Like the kart racers of fighters. It's a generic 2D fighter that has limited control and very little depth. Not recommended for hardcores.
