Nintendo Power
The overall play control is simple and fun, but getting hits to connect is a little rough. [Mar 2003, p.137]

Legends of Wrestling II's graphics look like they were created by a five-year-old.

While the boys on the screen take their fair share of lumps, ultimately it's the gamer that ends up absorbing the most punishment.

Well, ladies and gentlemen we have a new winner, or loser as the case may be. Legends of Wrestling II is the worst game I have ever played.

Acclaim had to rush the GBA version of the game in order to make the holiday rush, and lets just say it was a disastrous decision.

You could compile a flip-book with photographs of your favorite wrestlers and make a better game than this. [Aug 2003, p.35]

The computer AI is cheap one moment and then brain-dead the next, but the most irritating aspect by far is the overall sluggishness of the action inside the ring.

Just downright awful... ugly, clunky, and a chore to play, and should be avoided at all costs.

A major disappointment, outside having a super impressive roster of old school wrestlers like Hulk Hogan, Iron Sheik, George the Animal Steele, just to name a few. It falls short in every category that makes a great wrestling game fun.

Avoid this like a used King Kong Bundy jockstrap. [Mar 2003, p.92]

Truly abysmal. Lacks every element that makes a wrestling game playable. Not only are there a wide range of moves missing but even executing basic moves such as a suplex or a bodyslam is such a chore. Unbelieveably to perform a wrestlers signature move, you have to run towards your opponent and press L and R at the same time which is actually impossible. Overall the in ring action is slugish and unreponsive. The music is horrible. The graphics are probably the best asset of the game and theyre pretty poor. The wrestlers look like car crash victims. The tournament mode is dogged by repetition and has no depth whatsoever. This game has no merit. However the number of legends included in the game is decent and having a little factfile on each wresler is a nice touch. And they are the good points. Great. The developer clearly didnt think this game out. Well every format needs at least one awful game, so here you go GBA.

This game is sweaty like bull nuts. Luckily, I only paid $9 for it. That's just about what it's worth! Acclaim have been slipping big time on their wrestling games for the GBA. Get with it people!

Ok, so the wrestlers are poorly drawn, the characters in the ring are fairly indistinguishable, there's no original entrance music, and the play mechanics are pretty pedestrian. I still really like this game. It's easy to pick up, and if you're a wrestling fan, then there's that kick from seeing some favourites.
