As Parker, a miner working in appalling conditions beneath the surface of Mars, you become caught up in a rebellion triggered by inhuman working conditions and a deadly plague. During the course of 12 levels, set across land, sea and air environments, you fight overwhelming odds in your quest to free Mars from the evil Ultor's grip. The first 3D first-person shoot-em-up for the Nokia N-Gage game deck, Red Faction was developed by Monkeystone Software, run by Doom and Quake legend John Romero. Featuring 2-player action and levels that progress from gritty underground mines to pristine labs on Mars' surface, Red Faction mixes frenetic action with an absorbing storyline. [Nokia]

Cincinnati Enquirer
A clever port from the popular console and PC versions.

GameSpy
An old-school shooter with a shiny new coat of paint and a few innovative features. It stays loyal to the original game, while adapting it to work within the confines of portable technology. FPS fans will definitely find some satis-Faction here.

IGN
One of the most satisfying single and multiplayer gaming experiences on the N-Gage to date in addition to being one of the most impressive first-person-shooters made portable.

Shoot bad guys, blow up walls, win the game. That's all there is to it. If the frame rate wasn't choppy and if the gameplay was more compelling, such simple objectives would have been welcome.

Game Informer
Red Faction is probably the best (and only) FPS title on the N-Gage, but that's kind of like saying that crabs is one of the best venereal diseases. [Feb 2004, p.114]

GamePro
The biggest problem with Red Faction for the N-Gage is the control scheme—the N-Gage’s num-pad scheme is simply not conducive to first-person shooting as movements like strafing or looking up and down aren’t as easily accessible as they should be.

Game Power Australia
Red Faction can be enjoyable, but it doesn't control intuitively and it's extremely generic in almost every respect. The magic of the original has certainly been lost in the transition to Nokia's game deck.

Anybody who's played a first-person shooter in the last two years or so will find this primitive and slightly dull, even though it picks up in fits and bursts.

Pocket Games
Just plain ugly and with weak controls, this is one to pass up. [Spring 2004, p.18]

GameSpot
Featuring clunky controls, choppy animation, and a subpar frame rate, this reworking of a great game isn't one that you'd want to have with you on a desert island.

Lima Papa gave it a 3:
If you have ever played a 1st peson sshooter before, then u have plaayed this (many times over). the enemy are always aware of you unless u chuck a grenade round a corner. so sneek attack cances are limited. sloppy controls, poor gfxs. its not all negative ...the sound fx are pretty good!! very poor -- borrow it before you buy it!

Michael O. gave it a 10:
I dont know, it seams to be a decent remake of the 1st but definitely think they should have made some different designes as far as moving and strafing go.

Mary H. gave it a 10:
A FPS shooter that runs well AND looks good - on a handheld/cellphone I THINK SO!!!!
