Summary
(Also known as "Armed Assault: Queen's Gambit") Queen's Gambit is focused on a new story-based campaign which takes place 18 months after the ArmA: Armed Assault conflict. A group of seasoned mercenaries arrive to help the government with a sensitive matter that the army, no longer supported by the Americans, can not handle by itself. With all-new environments to stage conflict and strategic ops, and a whole new range of characters, weaponry and vehicles, ArmA: Queen’s Gambit offers a new and improved war experience for intense and realistic battle action. Pelit (Finland)
I would rather pay for an update that fixes AI and streamlines UI. Not muach new, and commando night missions are ArmA at its worst. [Nov 2007]
PC Zone UK
A hit-and-miss product that'll no doubt satiate the hardcore, but probably prove a tad too irritating for the rest. [Christmas 2007, p.86]
2404.org
Queen's Gambit is a mixed bag. The new campaigns are solid and well-worth the effort despite their obvious flaws, but the vanishingly small number of new features, weapons, and vehicles make it difficult to recommend.

Take Queen's Gambit as a harbiner that the original is now worth playing. If and when you've exhausted that, then this is waiting for you. [Dec 2007, p.58]

Just like the original, the expansion is extremely realistic and hard. Unfortunately it also brings very few new features. The combat on gigantic maps where you can die from a sniper shot fired hundreds of meters away just became more attractive thanks to the addition of M16A4, motorbikes and two short campaigns. If that doesn’t appeal to your inner soldier, probably you are like me. [Dec 2007]
Eurogamer
Even with regular shopping trips ArmA veterans will chew through RF in a couple of longish evenings.

Karl L. gave it a6:
Great game, but not not for everyone. I can understand why people after another Battlefield game would be disappointed. But for people who want a real war sim, this is it. However, since it is essentially a rehash of operation flashpoint with few improvements, or fixes for the original version of Arma, I'm giving it a lower rating. I hope BI Studios does a better job with Arma 2 Not that I wouldn't enjoy more of the same.
