Summary

Take a band of gun-toting rebels - a robot, a madman, a mole and a criminal mastermind. Put them in a vividly stunning fantasy realm. Then give them an impossible mission - pulling off the biggest heist of all time in the middle of a war. All you have to do is battle your way through dastardly enemies, giant war machines and an army of psychopathic robots. But don't worry; you have plenty of ammo and absolutely no common sense. Victory is yours in 12,000 bullets or less! Fight your way through 21 action-packed missions. Brandish over 17 outlandish weapons like the Cyclops Sniper Rifle, the Vindaloo Rocket Launcher, or the Topsy-Turvy and Sticky bomb. Explore five diverse environments including icy and snowy regions, mountains with breathtaking vistas, deep and foreboding woods, and rain-spattered cliffs. Take down wicked enemies like half-man, half-animal Grunts, eliminator droids, wall-smashing Goliaths, evil monks and wild twiglets. Navigate through a richly entertaining story with two smack-talkin' partners in crime. [LucasArts]

Play Magazine

This is a game that re-invents nearly everything it does, from weapons fire to storytelling to rescue missions to boost-and-hover gameplay to bold new ways to humiliate farm animals. [Dec 2003, p.68]

Yahoo! Games

Planet Moon set out to create a game that was pure, visceral fun and it did just that. You can sit down and play for ten minutes or ten hours and still be enthralled.

A stellar third-person shooter that pulses with feverish invention, A&D welds together top-notch controls, a truly mental plot, and some of the most strategic gunplay to hit consoles in ages.

Game Chronicles

From its sense of humor to its finely tweaked gameplay, Armed & Dangerous is a spectacular and engaging game—a third person shooter for fans of the genre or those sick of the recent wave of formulaic entries it has received.

While there is plenty in single player to keep the gamer coming back for more, the chance to play online would have lifted this into true classic status.

Game Over Online

The action is moderately intense, though I think most gamers will find the level of difficulty very manageable as long as you advance methodically and don’t rush blithely into massive enemy numbers.

You will fall over laughing at some of the cut-scenes in the game. Very well done, and hilarious.

Its style is not completely original but it is certainly a successful product from a dying genre for the PC.

Four Fat Chicks

It sports superb writing and voice acting, is laugh-out-loud funny, and brings enough originality to the table that it's worth more than a passing glance by action game fans.

PC Arena

As much as we hate to admit it, there's a little bit of quirky humour in all of us and Armed and Dangerous would undoubtedly bring lots of laughs during the course of carrying out your missions - just don't expect any replay value when you're done.

eToychest

The humor level here is really high, though, and I got more genuine laughs from the cutscenes than from any other game or movie in recent memory. For that reason alone, Armed & Dangerous is absolutely worth playing.

1UP

It's not the best-designed shooter of the year, and it's far from the nicest-looking, but it is one of the most fun to play, thanks to solid controls and some of the most drop-dead hilarious cutscenes in recent memory.

PC Gamer

Its dull level design is a shame, but Armed and Dangerous is still a hoot. If you're looking for mindless action mixed with scenes of sheer hilarity, you'll be well-entertained here. [Mar 2004, p.60]

Computer and Video Games

But when the fun cruelly comes to an end after a little over five or six hours, what are you left with? The humour. And since the gags wear thin quicker than the knees on Dennis the Menace's jeans, for laughs, give us "Phoenix Nights" or "The Office" any day. [PC Zone]

Gaming Age

Whether you enjoy the story and characters is very subjective and will probably drive how much time you're willing to put into the game. For most with a sense of humor and a thirst for destruction, A&D is well worth the time.

GameSpot

A good game, but toward the end of it, you'll likely be far more interested in seeing how the story ends--and the jokes it tells along the way--than in its gameplay.

ActionTrip

Lack of multiplayer and the relatively short single-player certainly don't do much good for the game's replay value, so the decision on whether or not you should buy Armed and Dangerous depends greatly on how much you like the style of humor that oozes from every pore of this title.

Edge Magazine

We need more games like this - ones that are confident and individual - but we need them to be less roughly hewn. The core of the game is solid, but the way it's applied throughout the levels just isn't interesting enough. [Mar 2004, p.98]

Computer Games Magazine

It's fairly hard to put a finger on why it all works. [Mar 2004, p.70]

WHAM! Gaming

While the game looks good, controls well and is genuinely funny in spots, the action starts to get repetitive fairly early on. But you gotta love that shark gun.

PC Gameworld

For "Giants" veterans, don't expect too much from A&D, as it isn't half as special as its precursor, but I would recommend playing it if only for the fantastic cutscenes.

Game Revolution

Has some funny moments and wild weapons, but it still can’t shake its straightforward gameplay. If you’re in the mood to just blow things up with no strings attached, this is the game for you, but more discerning gamers might be left wanting a little more.

Computer Gaming World

Planet Moon's Armed and Dangerous is "Kelly's Heroes" meets "Shrek" by way of Monty Python and Guy Ritchie. [Mar 2004, p.74]

GamerFeed

It has a hilarious story with wonderful characters, but the lackluster graphics, twitchy gameplay and repetitive levels make this just another mediocre shooter.

John C gave it a9:
Combines Pythonesque humour and 3rd person shooting, a novel plot and some fun action with daft weapons. If only it could be re-vamped to latest technology with multiplayer. Or make me a sequel!!

Skribb gave it an8:
A bit too short and sometimes the gameplay isn't 100% perfect.. but way too funny and intuitive to turn down!

[Anonymous] gave it a 10:
Very VERY good and funny!

Golo gave it a 9:
Might not look like a good game as graphics aren't as nice as some of the newer games... but regardless of that... its fun and that is what matters most...

Derek F. gave it a 0:
Rubbish, complete and utter rubbish.

Andrew S. gave it a 10:
..incredible... (-ly fun)
