Summary
The final chapter of the wildly popular Baldur's Gate series, technically and add-on pack to "Shadows of Amn" but which plays like a true sequel, opens after the conclusion of "Shadows" at the outbreak of a major Bhaalspawn war and throws you into a new adventure called the Watcher's Keep.

Gamer's Pulse
A true measure of any great series, whether it be books, movies, or computer games, is that I always feel a sense of loss when they are over; ToB gave that to me.

Full of adventure, action, intrigue and suspense. You will be required to use your brain, and your strategic fighting skills to survive the course before you. But it is quite an amazing and enjoyable venture.

A fitting completion to the Baldur's Gate "trilogy," but was slightly disappointing to this reviewer due to the shorter amount of playing time available for the main game itself (around 25-30 hours).

A nearly perfect conclusion to the Child of Bhaal saga, combining deft storytelling , an intelligent abilities system, and the trademark high quality fans of the series have come to expect into one superlative package.

I noticed that Bioware substantially improved (optimized) the Infinity engine. At one point, I found my company fighting with about forty Drow slaves without slowing the game or frame-rate down.

Add in an epic conclusion to a huge story, new features, and perfect presentation and you get one of the best role-playing experiences that you can ask for.

This isn't some short, slapped-together final chapter, but a full-fledged game of its own. Clocking in at around 40 to 50 hours, Throne Of Bhaal is easily longer than most other stand-alone RPGs.
Electric Playground
If there is any down side to it at all its that there wont be a "Baldurs Gate III" and I will sorely miss my player character with whom I have shared such a wonderful adventure over the last three years.

In some ways it's even superior to Baldur's Gate II. It's filled with high adventure, epic battles, and plenty of surprises, and it's got a good cast, a good story, and more of all the elements that have made the series successful.

The story is tight, the gameplay and flow of the game is familiar, but still an improvement over past offerings, and there is more goodies than you can shake a stick at this time too.

Another great addition to the series. It's a little more geared towards the magic-lover.

The expansion really adds nothing more to the game's mechanics, which isn't a bad thing. It's sole purpose is to conclude the series.

I just can't help thinking that the "Final Chapter" should have had a little more to it.

The Bad: It ends, no BGIII The Good: everything else, builds the great gameplay, character development and story of the original to produce 'the final chapter' to arguably the greatest rpg's ever produced (for me it shares this distinction only with deus ex and vampire:the masquerade).
Jay L gave it a9:
no game is perfect.but you are right.ending it like that.i would say theres only 2 things stopping this game from a definite 10.thats the XP limitation of 8,000,000 and online play.you cannot play with gamespy on this.or any other hosts.so finding mates to fightwith is dificult.the XP limitation just kills your chaacter off.you cant be bothered to play it all over again just to be the same.
Simon gave it a7:
Unsatisfactory ending to a great story. Throne of Bhaal should have been made as a Baldur's Gate 3 instead.

If you have BG II, get this. The level cap increase alone is worth it.

In truth, I'd give this game the 10 out of 10 it deserves....but they have made one dramatic negative... THEY'VE GONE AND ENDED ONE OF MY PERSONAL ULTIMATE GAMES *waaaah* I would love to give it the perfect 10, but whenever I finish an RPG, I feel empty, and thats what this game does everytime I finish it. 10 points all over, until its all over. *sigh*
