The game is wonderfully scary, an absolute joy to look at, very hard to stop playing.
92
GameSpy
With a strong storyline, fantastic graphics, interesting presentation, wonderful voice acting, and engrossing gameplay, Blair Witch is another in a long line of excellent TRI releases.

One of my biggest problems with Nocturne was its system requirements, which placed the game frankly rather ahead of its time.

Adrenaline Vault
A thoroughly absorbing title, complete with a suspenseful script, top-notch production values, the perfect balance of action and adventuring, puzzles that are intelligently integrated into the plot, and big dollops of atmosphere.

FiringSquad
The game itself is remarkably well put together. Graphics, sound and gameplay come together to create a terrifying yet intriguing experience. You'll be on edge of your seat and scared as you play even during "safe" areas, just because of previous experiences or the feeling that something is about to happen.

Game Over Online
The similarities between this game and the film are quite ironic. Both feature nausea-inducing camera work and each is a tad bit on the short side. The similarities end there though, as Blair Witch Project Volume I is arguably scarier than the movie.

Gaming Age
It isn't often that a game becomes so engrossing that I actually do have to turn on the lights to continue playing without whimpering, but that's the type of game BWV1: Rustin Parr is (even after shutting off the lights, my body was still at full alert at all times).

Despite some clunky combat, Blair Witch Volume 1: Rustin Parr is a delightfully spooky game with some clever puzzles and well worth the twenty bucks.

Electric Playground
While this first PC foray into the Blair mythos is excellent, you needn't bother unless you have a relatively high-end system. If you harbor any doubts as to whether your system is good enough, it isn't. The base requirements (Pentium II 233, etc.) refer to the game running at all, not the game running well when you've got multiple enemies onscreen...and believe me, you will.

Da Gameboyz
The only thing that keeps this title from top marks is the shifting camera angles and lousy action sequences.

Spank!
Certainly not the deepest title you'll ever play and the control system can be horribly frustrating, but the atmosphere makes it worth persevering with, especially if you liked the movie.
75
Game Revolution
Fatally flawed by some of the worst control on record. Still, its beautifully dark graphics, spooky atmosphere, and intriguing story make it compelling enough to play through.

Rustin Parr won't take you very long to finish, but it will give you a few good scares along the way.

CNET Gamecenter
Rustin Parr captures the spirit of the movie and makes for a compelling adventure game.

Computer Games Magazine
Despite its flaws, Blair Witch 1 does an admirable job of sustaining an atmosphere of suspense and horror from start to finish, and for some people that may be worth the price of admission.

All Game Guide
It is very short and should take only about ten hours to finish. As interesting as the puzzles are, they're a snap to solve and don't take an overly long time to solve.

Armchair Empire
This the most frightening game I’ve ever played. This is due to two factors: the light-sourcing and the sound.

Unfortunately, it becomes bogged down in itself in the process, and what you've got left is a brief, frustrating, and ultimately unsatisfactory gaming experience.

CheckOut
Unfortunately, while the story is well-told and intriguing, the gameplay is unwieldy and frustrating -- and after all, we aren't watching a movie, we're playing a game.

You can't use the flashlight and manipulate objects at the same time. Although you're holding the flashlight with just one hand. Who knows, maybe "Doc" suffered a stroke?

So the graphics suck, the control is appalling, the intro is masturbatory, how is the gameplay you ask? Not too bad.

Call us big girls' blouses if you wish, but this one's scary. Alas, it's also flawed to buggery.

GamerWeb PC
The combat is ruined entirely by sloppy controls and poor camera angles, and adventuring falls prey to lazy developers who opted for tedium instead of creative, intelligent puzzle design.

This is one really short game. With a little effort, you can beat it in 10-12 hours.

Andreja gave it a10:
The game is placed well, with great effects, and the design is just amazing! It's enjoyable game, and very good to play!

John gave it a9:
This game is scary. It's the scariest game I have played. Scarier than any so called "Horror/Survival" game (Re.Evil for example) and even more scary than Silent Hill 1-4! It uses all the skills of sound, music, design, story-telling and camera angle use to create scares from start to finish. The controls and interface are so not as bad as reviews say. And now that we have 1gig+ pcs, the game runs like a breeze. Recommend this of all the 3 in the trilogy, although the others are good too and also recommend the original game Nocturne. All these games are on budget now and well worth a look. On a modern PC they are the bees-knees in looks, sounds and scariness!

Juliux T. gave it a 10:
It's a very great game, The effects are very good.

Nathan C. gave it a 9:
This game is bone chilling, in-depth, makes you feel like a real investagator and has graphics that will blow u away!

Jamie C. gave it a 6:
The Game play is really Slow but the idea is great!

Jonathan H. gave it an 8:
Much better than I thought it would be. After a poor start it actually gets quite scary.

Fabian V. gave it a 9:
Spooky! I became a complete nervous wreck playing just the INTERACTIVE TRAILER, without the horrible control...this game would have a 10.
