| Blair Witch Volume 2: The Legend of Coffin Rock |
 |
The game beautifully blends eerie adventure and exploration with action-based survival horror and puzzle-solving elements. In 1886, a mysterious character with an unknown past awakens in Burkittsville, MD, just as several baffling events begin to befall the town's inhabitants. [Gathering of Developers]

Way too easy to beat.

GamePro
With so much dialogue and so little action, Blair Witch Volume 2 is even slower than the first game in the series and not quite as scary.

70
FiringSquad
The level of activity that a choose-your-own-adventure book permits is comparable to what you will experience in BW2. It is very obvious that the emphasis is not on the choices you make or how you make them, but the end result, the story itself.

70
GameSpy
It seems a shame that Volume Two ends before it really begins. The potential for a fantastically unnerving gaming experience is cut way too short.

70
Happy Puppy
This is creepy in a really bad way.

70
Computer Games Magazine
A very linear game. Like a puppet on a string, you are pulled along a straight path between cut scenes and have almost no control over the sequence of events. Couple this with a rather short story, and you have a release that provides an excellent entry point for those who are new to video gaming.

67
GameSpot
Its lackluster voice acting detracts from the otherwise spooky atmosphere that its excellent sound effects create.

67
IGN
As straightforward as it comes. You run in, talk to some people, find a path to run down, and kill everything in your way.

67
Gaming Age
Doesn't provide as many scares or value as the Rustin Parr installment did, but it's still worth the measly $20 that it costs; it will, at the least, make you jump up in your seat a few times.

65
Armchair Empire
While it is creepy, and does have a solid story the mixed presentation and weak controls mar the experience.

60
EuroGamer
Although it looks like Rustin Parr and uses the same technology, theres none of the flair and precision of its big brother, and its decidedly shorter, which isnt great since "Rustin Parr" was over too quickly to start with.

60
Spank!
The graphics aren't quite as good (as "Rustin Parr"), it' not as scary or atmospheric, the movement is less believable, the AI is poor and the dialogue isn't up to the same standard.
60
Game Over Online
It's not very scary and it's not much of an adventure. It's nothing more than a predictable and formulaic action title that does little to continue the mystique and myths of the Blair Witch.

60
CheckOut
This game is neither as creepy as Blair Witch Volume 1 nor as adrenaline-pumping as the other "action" games on the market, and in the end is something of a disappointment.
50
Daily Radar
It contains an interesting and cleverly told story and takes great pains to build an atmosphere, then smashes the whole house of cards to the ground, violently, with a cheap cop-out ending.
48
Gamer's Pulse
The gameplay was not extremely bad, nor were the graphics. However, these were not particularly good either, and they were bogged down heavily by abysmal voice acting, a story that failed completely to create the desired effect, and more bugs than an entomologist's wildest dreams.

48
PC Gamer
Only diehard "Blair Witch" fans are going to want this one, and then only because it's cheap. [Feb 2001, p.88]
33
ActionTrip
Shallow, lacking any gameplay. Made me wanna kill somebody.

25
Game Revolution
It's ridiculous, reminiscent of the obligatory chase sequences in the "Benny Hill Show." And about as horrifying...Shorter than an Oompa Loompa.

10
CNET Gamecenter
The design leans far too heavily on passive, informational sequences rather than immersing the user in what is potentially an incredibly interactive environment.
