Call of Duty: United Offensive's single player campaign allows gamers to experience more of WWII's most crucial and legendary conflicts, including The Battle of the Bulge, The Battle of Kursk and the invasion of Sicily, as they fight through more than ten intense all-new maps. The game features new weapons, character abilities, weather effects and explosions, adding even more realism to the chaotic battlefields. Additionally, Call of Duty: United Offensive expands on the popular multiplayer experience of Call of Duty, offering new multiplayer maps that set the stage for tank combat, as well as tank-and-foot-soldier combined arms action, providing the ultimate battle of Axis vs. Allies. Fans will also enjoy three new multiplayer gameplay modes, including Tank Battle, Capture the Flag and Domination - where squads must take control of key locations while preventing enemy troops from advancing. The main reason Call of Duty: United Offensive isn’t perfect is because it eventually ends, leaving you wanting more...It's everything a person could want in an expansion pack.

Call of Duty: United Offensive's white-knuckle WWII scenarios will blow away even jaded FPS veterans. And that's no small achievement, especially for a mere expansion pack. [Dec 2004, p.126]

Worth Playing
Where most expansion packs merely add more of the same levels and maybe a few additional weapons, United Offensive adds incredibly fresh content, weapons that are actually new and both require and open up different tactics than those found in the original, and gameplay enhancements that makes a person wonder how they ever got through the first Call of Duty without deeply wishing for them.

The scope and magnitude of Call of Duty and particularly this expansion are most important. Gray Matter Studios did upgrade the engine a bit as explosions and other particle effects (like smoke and dirt) are more vivid this time around.

The new levels are intense and filled with action, giving you lots to shoot at (and lots to shoot at you). The scope of these missions is epic, throwing you into the mix against tons of enemy units at once. The new weapons, particularly the flamethrower, are a nice touch.

Sometimes it's so fast that it can get a bit draining. If it weren't for the cinematic feel of the game, and all the side attractions of the game, it might even seem to be a repeat of every other WWII FPS out there. The new levels and the game play changes in the multiplayer experience make up for the relatively short single player campaigns.

The multiplayer in UO is revolutionary compared to CoD, and while we might wish Activision released this as a stand-alone for the sake of the community, we’re not about to punish an excellent expansion pack for adding so much to the original.

It’s enormous fun if you’re a fan and atmospheric in a way very different from "Doom 3" - a horror of another kind. Although slightly shorter than before, the end is just as dramatic and intense as Stalingrad, and is perhaps a campaign with better flow overall.

The only things that I had a problem with were the dated graphics (which wasn’t hard to overcome), the shaky A.I., and the “use” key not always working correctly when trying to use things such as levers or artillery guns (I’m sure there will be patches). These few problems were not enough to distract me from a great expansion.

Sure, the game is still a little short and the AI could use work, but the relatively expanded scope of the battles (thanks to the often overwhelming odds you'll face) gives you a better sense of being a part of a greater event, and the continually swirling action around you makes you really feel like you're in danger for a majority of the time.

Cody H gave it a10:
One of the best games of all time, it could only get better if you combine battlefield 2, RTCW :ET, and WWII Online. Now Activision start working! We want medics, more realism, no kill cam, more vehicles, less arcade style, objectives and NO DEATHMATCH multiplayer, make a multiplayer only that plays like the single player campaign, thats what fans want, and this game comes close to it.

Fred K. gave it a10:
A brilliant FPS To begin with and an excellent expasion. the SP missions are just like the original but even more over the top, action is aplenty and is a mind blowing experience from start to finish. However UO's strong point does not stand with single player, oh no it's multiplayer where this game blows every thing else out of the water. again its more of the same, but with ALOT more maps (Bigger as well), more gametypes, vehicals, more guns ect ect. UO has not stepped a foot wrong and is well worth what ever you have to pay for it, it also has one of if not THE best communitys iv'e ever seen, and Punkbuster is a brilliant cheat detector makign your games all that more enjoyable. If you buy this game for Single player you will feel a little sad that it' sover so fast, but the moment you take it for a spin online you will rejoice the day this game for released.

J-lad gave it a10:
I like it because of multiplayer because you can ride in vehicles and they included the flamethrower and many more cool weapons.

Dom Dude gave it a10:
This game absolutely rules and everyone should buy it. Multiplayer is a personal favorite as the user gets to play against people all over the world. It just amaaaaaaaaaaaazing!!!

V-Man gave it a7:
It was just as good as Call of Duty in every aspect except it didn't have as great of an ending mission, and the voice acting wasn't as good. However in some of the missions were great, like the airplane bombing mission was extraordinary. Otherwise though, it's just the same as the last game.

Warmonger gave it a7:
Good game but can be very difficult, the opening sequence in bastogne is case point....running from foxhole to foxhole trying to keep from getting killed was no fun at all! Don't get me wrong, I love a good challenge but too much is too much! It could have been better.

Aaron W. gave it a10:
This is the best game I ever played. It is perfect. I think that game rules. It is so much better than the original. I hope you like it.
