Sound really immerses you into the action of the missions. Voice acting is of the highest quality and features a real feel of urgency that would be present on any battlefield.

Perfect for gamers who are looking for frantic and intense action in their first-person shooter. Simplistic? Sure, but its fun all the same.

If you're looking for a great action title to get your blood pumping and that's intensively immersive, Delta Force : Blackhawk Down is your best bet!

Youll get an unforgettable experience of different military tactics, plus youll have a better idea of what the Army went through in Somalia.

A fantastic engine, a solid feel, remarkably fun multiplayer component, and a kind of action that emphasizes numbers over intelligence makes the title enjoyable and worthy of a mention.

If however you are looking to play an exciting and intense action-strategy combat game with a bit of historical significance, there is a whole lot of quality gameplay to be found here despite a few flaws and oversights none of which a good patch couldnt fix.

When compared with some previous titles of the series, Delta Force: Black Hawk Down doesn't bring some of the promised improvements (more complex AI, coop mode) but it still comes with a few innovations (a certain variety in the single-player missions, a completely 3D engine, the possibility to roll when proned or the peek like in Soldier of Fortune 2, the Progressive Spawn Points) which improve the multiplayer, the main aspect which made this series so popular amongst players.

It's got almost enough gameplay to rival "Battlefield 1942" as the definitive team-based action game, but with a much smoother, more ambitious, and ultimately more effective engine.

While it would be impossible for the game to mimic the raw emotion and chaos that defined this mission-turned-disaster in real life, the graphics are the best weve seen on a battlefield.

A few frustrating moments spoil the fun here and there, but overall Black Hawk Down is an entertaining shooter and an encouraging step forward for the Delta Force series.

The gritty feeling portrayed throughout the game is genuine, and the action is intense. While Novalogic could have slapped the Black Hawk Down name on a cheesy "Quake 2" mod and sold a bazillion copies, they decided to take the high road and produce a quality game.

A dark, thrilling, and ultimately satisfying wargame, so long as you don't think too hard about the carnage and terror that accompanied the real-world event. [July 2003, p.76]
Yahoo! Games
An exhilarating special ops action game, with finely crafted missions and amazing graphics. For anyone who loved the "shock and awe" of the movie, the bloody action and non-stop shooting, this game will provide the same kind of visceral thrill, and then some.

If you're a military sim gamer who's looking for endless hours of action devoid of strategy or tactics, then this is your game. [June 2003, p.84]
Thunderbolt
Like a good summer blockbuster, the action is entertaining, the thinking is kept to a minimum and most of the experience is forgotten when it stops.

BHD has environmental richness to spare, and lots of flash and thump. [June 2003, p.64]
Game Over Online
Gritty wartime antics, good graphics, atrocious AI targeting all around, pretty involved missions, nice multiplayer action, generally playable, and almost utterly lost in the background haze of the other 50 FPS games that came out in the last year.

If you're in for some solid multiplayer fun and a rather superficial, but spectacular looking single-player action, I think Delta Force: Blackhawk Down will have enough to offer to justify the purchase.

If you can stomach the precarious ethical nature of a game that takes American intervention in the very serious political quagmire that is Somalia as its subject matter, then this game makes for a varied and engrossing piece of gun-action. [May 2003, p.101]
GMR Magazine
All the atmosphere is here - the confusion and fear - but beyond that, DFBHD doesn't involve much more than mowing down hordes of mindless enemy drones. [June 2003, p.73]
Adrenaline Vault
Doesn't reach its full potential because of flaky AI and chunky models that distract from an otherwise deeply engrossing environment.

If you can forgive the game's lighter approach - one that emphasizes action instead of strategy - then you'll enjoy Black Hawk Down.

You might not think that we need another first person shooter in our collections, but when such a simple game can be fun, exhilarating, affecting, tense and stressful all at once, you begin to wonder why you ever needed more.

Sure it's fun, but the true star of Black Hawk Down is the multiplayer, albeit a truly archaic server browser. [June 2003, p.58]
G4 TV
Though mostly a run-and-gun affair, the adrenaline-charged atmosphere makes up for the deficiencies in the computer AI.
It features some attractive visuals and a few particularly dramatic scenes. Still, Black Hawk Down is a deeply flawed shooter that has a moment of disappointment or frustration for every moment of fun.

M B gave it a2:
This was the worst game ever, infuriating and terrible. The AI was nonexistent and the gameplay lackluster. It was the last time I ever bought a game without reading a review as well. Look at the worst score, it's from GameSpot, a good review company. They gave it a 56, and that is generous is my mind. Terrible game. Absolutely awful.
Henry gave it a 10:
This is the best game I ever played. The graphics are spectacular and the missions are amazing. I recommend it to those who are pretending to buy this game.
Matthew H. gave it a 9:
The single player portion of the game might be lacking a little bit, but the multiplayer portion definitely covered for the lost ground. No computer AI is as good as a real person!!! The multiplayer mode is just outstanding and I can't stop playing.
Mick L. gave it a 10:
The game rules even though i've got the demo multiplayer knocks me dead.I love going the gunner cause he's got the best guns. The first time I played the game the computer buggerd up so I tried putting memory in the computer and it worked better. So I started a multi player game entered the enemy teams armory and got turned into a sushe by a grenade launcher and I got the enemy flag 22x.Then a little sh$$ comes along and stapped me so I give my team a command to kill that little bast$$$ and the killed me nice huh.
Robert P. gave it a 9:
The multiplayer is unreal!! The single player is not bad, but not the greatest. Definitely the most fun multiplayer game I have played. Get it you freaks!
S-3288 gave it a 9:
One of the best multiplayer experiences to come along in quite some time. If you rated it low, you are just showing your inexperience with FPS.
Jo N. gave it a 7:
Its an alright game, but the single player wasn't what i expected. The muti-player aspect of the game is what makes it worth playing. You can win awards and you even gain ranks visable to other players when you reach a set level of kills or experance points, also you can view all you stats from the login screen. Its not a perfect game, but its a good game.
