Summary
Disciples II: Rise of the Elves is a milestone in the Disciples universe. For the first time, Disciples fans will be able to play as the elder Elven race as they struggle to reclaim their forests from the four primary forces in Nevendaar. Driven by an unpredictable god who urges them to battle, the Elves begin a massive march towards their fate. The noble Elves rule their people from elaborate fortresses within the trees. They adorn themselves with ornate armor and prefer councils or negotiations to conflict. Their queen is a just leader, preferring the path of peace for her kind. The noble Elves owe much to the Empire... The wild Elves have become forest predators. Their intolerance of the civilized world has reached new extremes and they have reduced themselves to highwaymen and bandits. They tolerate the noble bloodline, but do not respect it. The thought of their race allying with another is appalling. As one tiny oracle heralds the unquestionable will of Gallean to lash out against his timeless enemies, the Elves must unite their scattered tribes. [Strategy First]

Computer Games Magazine
Perhaps the biggest plus is that these Elves aren't fey forest pansies like the usual Tolien-influenced woodland folk. They're as dark and pissed-off as everyone else in the Disciples world. [Mar 2004, p.71]
GameZone
If you are a veteran of the D2 series, Rise of the Elves adds in a cool new army to play with and hours of gameplay for the new missions, and while theres nothing new or revolutionary that really seemed to go on, that can be a good thing.

Whenever you add a new race into an already established game, the question of game balance becomes an important issue. Rise of the Elves does an excellent job in this regard, as the Elf retinue is not overly powerful nor are they fodder for the other four races.

Rise of the Elves is like Disciples II with two more years of work put into it. It has all the strengths and weaknesses of the original and is overall quite a fun game that will stay on your hard drive for a while.

It isn't the deepest game as far as strategy goes, but the art style and presentation are very strong. You just don't really see games made like this very often, so the chance to sink into one is always welcome.

Retails for more than the earlier expansion packs, but it offers a lot more. Though fans of Disciples II must be anxious for a true third installment in the series, for now, this is the closest thing they'll get.

Its simplicity and accessibility make it a good bet for first timers to the genre, but this same lack of depth will make veterans of turn-based strategy titles wish for a bit more.

It's a full-fledged expansion pack that provides some great additions to the game. If you're new to "Disciples," this is the one to buy.

Igot it gave it a1:
Do not buy this game, if you find a way to return it after being bought online let me know.
Alexandre C. gave it a9:
Very good game, addictive. On a things to be improved, the graphics should be scalable on non 4:3 ratio screens and the interface text is very small on high resolution. Apart from that, the game is really really good! Love it.
Jon V. gave it a 6:
Disciples II has a unique and well-rendered visual style. While the portraits and animations look great, the main map screen is cluttered, making it difficult to discern units from background objects. The main problem with the game, though, is that it becomes repetitious and tedious. Since level progression is so slow, you end up running back to town to heal too often. Despite the variety of units, the races all play abut the same, except for a few wildly unbalanced units like the werewolf and the elven rod planter. Items are extremely expensive considering how rarely they are useful. The game's an interesting diversion for a week or so, but strategy fans will quickly find it lacking.
Mike G. gave it a 6:
While the games is alike Heroes series, it lacks some useful options Heroes did. It will take AGES here upgrading your heroes and units, before they'd become powerful enough to beat enemies. And alomst no chances to caputer capital city guarded by "super-hero". Just expected more of this title:-(
Anthony B. gave it a 10:
The Elves are a kick ass races to be. With increditable abilities.
