It's not often that a free MMO shares shares space with World of Warcraft on my desktop, but Duneon Runners changed all that with a splash of Diablo-inspired gameplay that lets you roam randomly generated dungeons as one of three classes. [Sept 2007, p.64]
Eurogamer
Despite the problems, it's such a huge amount of fun. However, at free, and near-as-dammit for the membership, we throw caution to the wind. It pokes excellent fun at a pompous genre (although WoW does an occasionally decent job of this too), and remains very playable.

Once you are willing to pony up your five bucks a month, though, Dungeon Runners becomes a surprisingly addictive time-waster. [Sept 2007, p.68]
GameDaily
Between the easy to learn interface, the "Monty Python" comedic theme and the FREE part... Dungeon Runners plays better than most pay-to-play MMOs, and therefore deserves attention.

With no cost for the game itself and a subscription cost about the price of a single gallon of gas, Dungeon Runners has a pretty nice cost-reward ratio going for it. There's no reason not to at least give it a crack.

It offers the perfect style of gameplay makes for those who want to jump online and play an hour or so, then get back to their life.

The game is easy to jump into and play. The downside is that some of the controls can be a bit finger numbing. Holding down the left mouse button continuously for most of an hour or so is not much fun.

Dungeon Runners is an easy to play, quick to jump-in and a relatively fun hack n' slash game. It's also free and small to download so you might as well give it a whirl -- it can't hurt.

Wears its simplicity on its sleeve and is certainly a different slant on the genre. [Oct 2007, p.66]
PC Gameworld
There's absolutely no reason not to try this game. You might just find yourself hooked by a competent and charming dungeon crawler.

An amusing little diversion when taken in small doses. Its lack of storyline and repetitious combat keep it from being playable for more than an hour or two at a time, but it’s good solid fun for that hour or two.

Dungeons Runners is a solid MMORPG that doesn't try to be more than it is and that anyone with a sense of humor can enjoy.

Don't knock a mark in the 70s. This game IS worth playing. [Aug 2007, p.90]
SpazioGames
Dungeon Raiders is the classic interesting title that seems almost out of nowhere. Cyanide published an adventure full of humour and ideas that seem inspired at certain stages of the first classic Zelda. A structure of this type, based solely on solving dungeon could convince fans of the genre. The marginal defects mentioned, a few bugs and a slight inaccuracy in the controls, are not so great as to prohibit the purchase of the game. Dungeon Raiders amused us and appears as a title suitable for those who love for an intelligence game in a context action that is less static than the classic puzzle games.

This online RPG offers some witty humor and short-lived fun, but you'll be ready to move on after a scant few hours.

It's tough to complain about a free game. But the real rub is that grinding through Dungeon Runners feels like a chore without a membership. So in the end, the real question is whether or not this game is worth five bucks a month. We don't think so.

Nick B. gave it a5:
DR would have been getting some terrible reviews if it charged big bucks like other MMOs, but the free factor seems to give it a free pass for the reviewers. Yeah it's a "fun" time waster but that's all it is; I'd rather read a book or something if I've got the kind of spare time to waste on somethings as pointless as this game.
Matt B. gave it a7:
Well its free and more fun than Silkroad (Grinding for experience is not my idea of fun). Good fun even without membership, but nothing too amazing.
Kalle gave it a3:
Boring, un-innovatibe, bad gameplay, looks horrible, sounds horrible. Avoid!
Mike W. gave it an8:
Give this game a chance you won't regret it, the graphics are good and the gameplay is very similar to PS2 Baulders Gate. Play for while on your own to get the hang of it, level up a few times then i suggest Auto joining a group for a really fun hack and slash adventure with new friends. Just don't be suprised if some of them are 9 yr olds.
Jordan S. gave it a9:
Fantastic game for a free to play MMO I Personally am not a huge fan of the MMORPG genre (still waiting on Tabula Rasa) but dungeon runners has converted me. the game has a surprising amount depth and always had me coming back for more. Having all of this for free as well was also a pleasant surprise. the company offers a premium account for a measly $5 extra. Parties were very easy to get into, the dungeons are very well mapped out, and going solo is just as fun as battling with a group. The only problem I encountered with this game is the same problem that plagues the MMO genre: poor player etiquette. I'm sure you've heard it all before, but this is a problem that is extremely hard to address. One time or another you run into a player that is insulting or is constantly spamming or complaining about something. The only way to deal with this is to ignore it or report the players for poor sportsmanship. Overall, my experience with this game was extremely positive and I would recommend this to fans of MMORPGs that don't want to pay for World of Warcraft or even Diablo players looking for a fresh experience.
Kalle H. gave it a3:
Too simple, not fun, ugly, sounds pretty horrible. In overall, very boring and uninnovative. Diablo 1 is way much better than this.
Alex X. gave it a9:
This game is very good if u ask me, with an inventory system like diablo and gameplay to match (but not beat) WoW, however its not for the hardcore gamer, as the monsters look almost exactly the same as u get higher and higher, good if u want to play it for an hour or so at a time. Not to mention its free. But the really good stuff comes at a mere $5 dollars a month like the game every 10 year old has played, Runescape, graphics are much better i might add, but holding down the LMB has had some consequences... And it can be quite funny at times, but there is only ONE town, and its name wasn't given much thought, Townston. It might have been better with two towns, but i doubt the name would have been much better (Townsville perhaps?). 9/10 from me. Give it a shot.
