Pregaming
It not only takes what other games have done and makes them better, it creates a style and ambience that is all its own, this is one game that no gamer should miss, it really is just that good, and that is why I have no problem giving it a perfect score.

Theres never been a better action RPG for any system. Yes, it's even better than "Diablo."

A simple, intuitive user interface, coupled with excellent sound and truly amazing visual effects for an RPG of this magnitude is amazing in itself.

The most remarkable achievement that I noticed during my all-too-short time with DS is the utter and complete absence of loading times anywhere, in any level. [June 2002, p.85]
PC Gamer
The game with the best camera system ever. It's simplicity incarnate, and so intuitive that it makes playing the game extra fun by nature of its unobtrusiveness. [June 2002, p.46]
Game Revolution
Dungeon Siege's monumental ease-of-use is particularly impressive to me.

Dungeon Siege is simple, and it is this simplicity that makes it an amazingly fun fantasy action RPG.

RPG fans may scoff at it's hack-n-slash nature, but they are missing out in this case, as Dungeon Siege provides spades of real-time tactical delight.

Presentation is the area in which Dungeon Siege truly shines, surpassing the techniques of its third-person RPG forbearers by a quantum leap and rivaling the best efforts of contemporary 3D releases in other genres.

If it walks, crawls, flies, swims, or shambles, its probably in the game, and youll probably get to kill it -- a lot.

One of the most important reason[s] that Dungeon Siege is such an improvement over its action RPG predecessors is that the interface is just downright perfect.

It is a better game than "Diablo II" in almost every aspect (save the multiplayer and the audio - D2's audio isn't anything to write home about either), and is well worth every penny spent.

The graphics are well polished and the game so addictive that it will keep you hacking, slashing, and casting for a good long while.

A solid game...Those that liked "Diablo" or just want something that will entertain without taxing their brain should be more than happy with a copy of Dungeon Siege added to their collection.

Great graphics and some innovative concepts make this one worth a close look, but a thin plot, linear play, and monster AI issues prevent it from achieving true greatness.

Its polished interface, accessible gameplay, and exceptional graphics make Dungeon Siege a first-rate action RPG.

If you loved Diablo than you will definitely love this game. If you liked parts of Diablo than you will love the game... If you love RPG's, you will love this game... If you love God and all good things... you will love this game.

Lack of innovation aside, Dungeon Siege proves to be a polished, stylish and highly addictive computer game.
The Diablo games don't have the weird imbalances and ambiguities Dungeon Siege does, where you're stuck trying to figure out if you want to keep an item or not. In Diablo, it was always easy to tell which items were the best and its class system, if more restrictive, is also more focused.
Read Full Review >Four Fat Chicks
Dungeon Siege could have used a deeper plot, more vocalizations and some good cutscenes, but like its predecessor-type RPG Diablo, it eschews deeper storylines and keeps the gamer busy with high-intensity fighting against rushes of unique enemies instead.

Ask yourself if battling through hundreds of combats, most of which require no strategy other than kill the other guy first, sounds like fun.
If you are expecting a genuine CRPG you might be disappointed. If you enjoy combat-driven games such as Diablo then you may well enjoy Dungeon Siege.

It's positively gorgeous, but playing through the majority of the title feels more like a chore than it does like fun.

Matt L gave it an8:
This is a good game. Sure it had some balance issues, and a few AI problems, but in terms of what it was, a hack and slash RPG, it did that excellently. Was it the best game, no, but it doesn't deserve a 1 or a zero. Oh yeah, K. Dog, you need to get your facts straight, Microsoft didn't make this game, they just produced it. Gas Powered Games was the developer. And they did a good job here.
Bob W. gave it a9:
This is an astounding RPG. i'm not really a fan of RPG's, but this one was so addictive and fun. The challenge stays up practically througout the whole game. The graphics are really nice, especially the spells. The only question I have is this; How do you make an entire game with only one load sequence that is about ten seconds long? Truly, magic does exist.
Mateus C. gave it an8:
This game is very good, with spectacular soundtrack and environments. But with the pass of the time it becomes tiring and very repetitive not offering incentive to finish.
K. Dog gave it a 1:
The one is for graphics. The rest is BOOOOOOOORING! Lame gameplay, ripoff of Diablo, stupid stupid combat system. You can change a melee expert to a ranged master in about 5 minutes, and bows do equal damage to melee weapons. I ended up with a party of 6 archers and two spellcasters. Spells is another shortfall. Dumb dumb dumb. The hardest part of the game was in the beginning third. After that, you can get a healing spell that will heal everyone for lots of HP, and that's all you ever need. Hack hack hack after that. Not even a remote hint of plot either. Diablo is better in every single aspect. Microsoft stinks at making games, and their reputation is upheld here as well. The gams is fun for 5 minutes, then the novelty wears off, and it's just run, hack, kill ten of the same monster, repeat.
Bit Burn gave it a 7:
Graphics are awesome. Sounds are great too. The music is also excellent. The gameplay..well in the beginning it's very interesting but as the game progresses it gets a bit dull.
DarkSavior gave it a 9:
Baldur's Gate-like games are great, but there's so much to read, and in Diablo-like games you only have a character , so grab the best of those games, mix it, make it in 3D and the result is perfection! I'm sure in the 2nd part there will be more options like races and more skills, that will just make it still more amazing!
Colin J. gave it a 4:
Wow, is this a gorgeous game or what? The models, animations, textures, the freeze-frame action - just superb. Unfortunately, the game itself is completely tedious - it's basically just killing the same monster over and over again, with little room for tactical innovation - but I can't wait to see what else is done with the engine.
