Thunderbolt

You might get a little lost on your journey sometimes, but you’ll never feel anything less than totally immersed. EverQuest II comes highly recommended both to MMORPG newbies and to those who might have become jaded with what other MMORPGs have to offer.

GameFocus

If you are an Everquest 2 role player or just a player who enjoys the rich and fascinating lore created for the Everquest games then you should pay special attention to the new story lines available. They are by far some of the best written for any MMORPG and shows that SOE is still the company who can create some of the deepest and most creative worlds for people to explore.

IGN

Despite some of the unintended social grouping issues, The Shadow Odyssey is a well-designed expansion that gives more depth and playability to the game. It revives the social aspect of an MMO that had drifted toward solitary play styles, and brings new and different challenges to an already robust world.

Aeyri D gave it a10:
I came to this game after getting tired of WoW (after about a year of playing it, including hardcore raiding). I haven't looked back since. The graphics are very much superior, although keep in mind you will need a pretty powerful system to experience them to the fullest. Take the "recommended" system requirements as the minimum ;) It always feels like much more to do in EQ2 than there is in WoW. Quests are literally everywhere (standard quests, heritage quests, live event quests, city writs, etc), crafting is much more in-depth, alternative advancement points give you a reason to keep questing even after the level cap. There are a solid number of both group and raid dungeons if you enjoy playing with a group. At the same time, solo play is challenging but not overly-so (take this from someone who had quit EQ1 due to the difficulty of solo progression). There is always some sort of live event going on to provide additional content as well. I will say the ONLY thing I can think of that I miss from WoW is the PvP battlegrounds, but I hear something similar is coming soon to EQ2. My only regret is not getting into this game sooner. I strongly encourage you to give this game a try. I highly doubt you'll be disappointed :)

Simply the best MMO available.

A excellent expansion mainly oriented to groups :)
