With experience points earned through racing, you improve your braking ability, acceleration, drafting skills, anticipation, and aggressiveness. As your stats increase, you tailor this alter-ego to your driving. [Nov. 2006, p.78]

Worth Playing
But for the tiny itch of a niche that this odd racer scratches, you few should enjoy quite a bit leveling yourself up, getting the best gear, hitting level 40, and then beating Onyxia. Er, I mean Petrovic. I wish that guy would just wreck once in a while.

Evolution GT is very nearly the dictionary definition of the solid and unspectacular racing game, but it somehow manages to be more than the sum of its parts.

If you play the game honestly, however, it's a challenging and rewarding experience with plenty of longevity and replay value.

Reasonably pretty, but the sheen fails to conceal the tedium. [July 2006, p.88]

Ill-fitting marriage of cars and experience points. Again. [July 2006, p.90]

But Evolution GT's efforts to innovate have resulted in it becoming rather boring. It's trying too hard and forgetting what makes racing loveable in the first place. And that, I'm afraid, is unforgivable.

Despite a competent driving model and some pretty if not amazing graphics, the title smacks of people thinking of potentially great ideas, but then adding them without play-testing. [July 2006, p.89]

Greg A. gave it a4:
This game is the worst racing game I've ever played. Well, the graphic is quite nice, the cars looks nice, HDR effects looks nice, the blur effect, etc. The addition of RPG element such as leveling and skill point is a nice variation, but in the end that means nothing for the enjoyment of playing the game (c'monl it is racing game, not RPG). The thing that I hate the most about this game is the inconsistent AI, in some tracks/events, the AI can be beaten easily, but in some others it is almosts impossible to beat the AI, which makes me frustates. Moreover, the heart beating sound is annoying for me. If you want to play this game, better rent it, don't buy it... test is first, if you like it, then buy it, if not, forget about this game....

Head H. gave it a10:
Great Game!

Justin D. gave it a9:
The only thing I don't like about this game are those damn features in the game like that heartbeat sound. But the racing controls and the graphics are very good. The cars look very nice, I really like the drawing style. It's the same like they did with SCARS. Some tracks could have some better graphics.

Tom M. gave it a3:
The graphics in the game is ok, but the gameplay sucks. You have to play for hours to master even the easiest tracks, and I never completed the game... to booring. And what makes the game totally lame is that you get "points" you add, for example: driving skill, throttle control, brake control and like 15 other categories. If you don't choose the right skills, it's impossible to play. I had to do lots of challenges before I even could race championship, to get enough points to the driving skill, to make it possible to steer.
