Summary

Global Agenda is a massively multi-player action game set in 22nd Earth, a 'spy-fi' world of advanced technology and player-driven conflict. In the wake of severe global disaster, the political face of 22nd century earth has changed and player-created factions scheme against each other for power. Traditional full-scale wars a thing of the past, factions must rely on covert agencies, teams of elite special operatives able to seize and defend key facilities. The future of humanity is their battleground, where knowledge is power, technology is a race, and everyone has an agenda. [Hi-Rez Studios]

Global Agenda’s developers Hi-Rez Studios have wisely mixed together MMORPG elements with FPS action resulting in an amazing online experience, which reaches its apex in the Conquest mode. It is not perfect, it must be said, but we’ve enjoyed it a lot!

GameFocus

Global Agenda isn’t a perfect game but there is a awful lot of potential in this well put together debut from Hi-Rez. They should also be applauded for utilizing a system that allowed optional subscription service and I hope to see this adopted by more developers and publishers in the future.

Intense is the word that comes right after "Fun" when I'm asked to describe Global Agenda.

Games Radar (in-house)

We have to give respect to Hi-Rez Studios for taking a very daring, risky move by creating an action MMO unlike anything we've played before. Sure, it's different because it combines familiar tropes into something unusual, but it feels like a wholly new experience.

Cheat Code Central

Global Agenda isn't an excellent game, but there is a lot of co-op and competitive fun to be had. In fact, the overwhelming vibe from current players is quite upbeat. Still, there's not enough content included with its purchase to keep you playing for months on end; you'll have to pony up the monthly fee for the Conquest mode to get any lasting appeal.

PC Gamer UK

It's lots of fun as a straight team-based shooter, but the MMO side of things needs polish to make it more accessible. [Apr 2010, p.100]

PC PowerPlay

Instead of reinventing the wheel, Hi-Rez just painted it silver, added some bling, and called it a velocity-transfer-disc. [Apr 2010, p.54]

Eurogamer

It's a shooter without eloquence or crunch, an MMO without content or personality, and as an experimental combination of the two it's missing ambition.

AceGamez

The shooting elements have been watered down to accomodate MMO players, and the persistance has been watered down to accomodate FPS gamers. High Rez have attempted to make so many compromises, they just seem to have fallen short accross the board.

GameSpot

Global Agenda tries to be both a regular multiplayer shooter and a massively multiplayer online game but isn't very good at either.

Crex Crex gave it a10:
Hey, this game for me personally is very good. I absolutly do not understand why someone is giving here a zero or 2 points. That's absolutly unworthy. MMO: Ok true to say, it is more a shooter than a MMO so the MMO part has not much to show of atm. But there will be a lot of quests out of dome city and more MMO to come. Balance: Well what to say about it? Just perfectly balanced. I must confess, i have never seen a pvp game so dramatically based on teamplay which is so balanced like Global Agenda. Just every class is able to be the masterclass in one specific situation but to win the map you have to work together, solosnipering one person is absolutly ineffectivly etc. Story: Ok, the story is not that good, but what do you want to expect from a game in this genre where nerlay everything was used somewhere else? PvE: It's ok, It's not the mainfeature, it's not that boring but not really interessting, but as it is not the mainpart of the game that's absolutly ok. And yes, it's hard, even when you hit lvl 30/50. AvA: Just awesome. 10 vs 10 is maybe not what you expect to be an MMO, but it is really challenging and you have to think about: Do I take a recon for the last slot or better a medic? It is all tacticle choice. Tactics and strategies are also very important in the battles, you truly see which team has the better one. Nevertheless you can learn out of these matches and so it is easy to learn but hard to master. Agency/Guild: The management has been improved after release of patch 1.1 and all in all it could be bether but is functionally as it should be. Future Updates: Well I must say, that I have never seen a publisher working so close together with the community. nearly everything what was done by 1.1 was brought up by the community and the talk about these things is still present. Also when you say, ok content now is not worth 40 € you can see what will come up: 4vs4 arena, agency vs agency normal pvp, open world areas etc. So all in all it is worth the money, even if it is not "complete" by now.

I've been playing Global Agenda 5 nights a week since release four weeks ago. The foundation of the game is rock solid: classes are balanced, gameplay is practically bug-free, hackers and exploiters are dealt with quickly, and the game can be a lot of fun to play. That being said, the existing content is fatally anemic. There just isn't that much to see and do that you don't get out of Team Fortress 2 at 1/3rd the price. Calling it an "MMO" is misleading -- it has elements of an MMO like persistent characters, leveling, and a basic item system, but that's pretty much where the MMO begins and ends. This game has the potential to grow into something amazing, but it isn't there yet.

The Marauder gave it a6:
Unfortunately Global Agenda trys to be everything to everyone. It's an okay little co-op shooter. It's got some nifty gear and a skill tree you level. It's massively multiplayer. It's not bad at any of them, but I found I got bored with attacking the same bunch of rather generic robot factories over and over. Save your money.

James E gave it an8:
GA is a bit misunderstood. With its label of mmo, a thought of grind, gearing up, and pale quest after quest to get to the "End Game" surfaces. The only "mmo" that this game should be compared to is planetside. After years of playing planetside, i can not remember doing a single quest, chasing down one random piece of loot, or feeling that i must reach the "End Game" before i can really enjoy or flaunt my achievements. GA is terrifying for investors. Not a single tried and true fantasy element anywhere. GA is new. It forces the player to gain skill, not skill up. yes, after level 30 (written 2/28/2010) your only gaining new armor looks and paint. To compare this to planetside, leveling gave you access to more equipment and abilities at once, and new armor looks that changes its paint patterns. The 4 man dungeons are kind of bland after the 20ith or so romp through. But, when was the last time you had to actively dodge and aim at what you wanted to kill in an mmo setting? The over all feeling i get from GA is that it does not want to make large errors in development, or system shock players that do not play FPS or action games. Baby steps are what the developers are taking. They listen to the player base and are watching how the sales are doing at the moment. Announcements have already been made telling of new changes and added content. Also, the subscription is optional. A game that will update and change with an optional subscription is a good investment.

Eric N gave it a5:
It'll be a fun purchase in say 5 years, when it drops to <$5 on steam. I played this at Quakecon '09 when they demo'd it, and I laughed when I got a very sour look from one of the guys at the booth when I asked if they had already tried this once, and called it Planetside. Basically all it is, just without the massively multiplayer end of it, and nearly all of the cool factor. A turd of a game at best, and only fun at lan parties. Don't waste your money on it. I had more fun harassing the booth attendants at QC09 about the game then I did playing it.

Robert R gave it an8:
Coming from TF2, i find GA a really fun game to play... there's a few bugs that need to be fine tuned but other than that its a fantastic game. AvA is a little slow but that doesn't mean its no good. Even tho the subscription is for AvA I want to give them money because I know they will create something Ive been longing for! I recommend it.

Morgan B gave it a3:
The game just feels like it was released a year too early. The concept is ok, and the game is fun for a few hours but rapidly becomes fairly repetetive. It has a fairly low skill ceiling as an FPS and being completely unrewarding as a MMO. Plus do not be fooled by any tags on Steam or elsewhere suggesting it is an RPG. It is not in any traditional sense.Even the level progression and loot unlocking is fairly weak as you can max out quickly and there is no content reward for doing so. The nearest comparison would be an FPS like Counter Strike with the RPG mod. And to make matters worse the standard PvP game only lets you form teams of 4 even though its 10v10. So unless you want to become fairly devoted and do AvA you are left with a fairly forgetable experience that just feels half done. In the end, it just lost any "fun" factor after a few hours. Its a stocking filler. A 10 dollar pickup game. If this game is remembered in 5 years, it will be for all the wrong reasons.
