Summary
In addition to many other tracks, players of GTR Evolution will drive the modern version of the monumental track of Nürburgring Nordschleife along with the Nürburgring GP layout. Dubbed "The Green Hell" by racing legend Jackie Stewart, the track is revered and feared as the most difficult and treacherous track ever built. GTR Evolution for PC comes with 22 GT car models in 3 different classes plus a selection of exclusive production cars. Further to this SimBin adds WTCC Extreme, tuned concept cars based on the FIA WTCC cars. [SimBin]

If you already have GTR 2 and Race '07, there won't be much to compel to you pick up GTR Evolution. If you have neither of those, though, GTR Evolution is a must-have for anyone that has a yearning to race.

Evolution evolves the series, and it does so wonderfully. I suspect a future follow-up will involve a complete overhaul, but until then, GTR Evolution -- and Nordschleife in particular -- is where every good driver should be.

GTR Evolution is a fine addition to SimBin’s repertoire of driving sims, offering some great features and unrivaled tracks for fans of authentic racing games.

Race 07 was just a season update for Race, and GTR Evolution continues to same direction. It adds the game some cars and legendary Nordscleife track, but basicly that's all. Everything is quite nice but nothing rises above the minimum level of hardcore racing simulators. Graphics engine looks like 5 years old. Production cars, that should shine brightly, look like plastic cars with plastic shine. In race cars that effect didn't bother, but with production cars graphics engine show its lack of ability to draw realistic lighting effects. Race 07 with GTR Evolution is very good game, but nothing else. Hopefully Simbin starts to do something completely different after these season updates, which have been continuing for too long now. And I hope I don't ever have to copy my review from one year old game anymore. [Sept 2008]
Game Chronicles
GTR Evolution is a great racing simulator that is very realistic and a great game with all the right features and realism you could ask for. GTR Evolution has tracks made from real world sites and plenty of real cars for an overall well made game.

You can race as many as 24 human opponents online, and apart from some sporadic large-field stuttering issues, the action proved largely seamless. [Holiday 2008, p.70]
IGN
RACE 07 fans that are craving the ultimate challenge should purchase Evolution if for no other reason then to experience the famous "green hell" of Nrburgring.

Racing-game-specialist Simbin upgrades its Race 07 with some new cars and tracks – that is not much for its price, but the core of the game is still fun to play if you like simulations.

Swedish developer SimBin is definitely the top of the crop when it comes to realistic driving simulators and this is no exception. As the name implies GTR Evolution is a evolutionary add on for last year's RACE 07 and what you're treated to here is a wealth of new cars and a new course, but not just any course. Nürburgring Nordschleife is fully modelled and available in the game which alone makes this a great add on for driving fans everywhere.

GTR Evolution is a good sim racer that fans should be happy to have. For its $19.99 price tag, you get a lot of content and replayability.

The reason this game and its predecessors perch atop their genre is they make every sweet passing move, crisply negotiated corner and shaved second feel like a podium finish.

In the proper hands, the game can be a breeding ground for racing bliss. GTR Represents racing simulation realism at its absolute best, even if that means it sacrifices accessibility and broader appeal for general gamers.

It steadily grows harder for me to see the positive sides of a SimBin-Simulation. Thus, GT Legends still takes the cake thanks to a motivating career-mode and nifty cars. At the end of the day, it falls to the racing-game fan himself to tell if the purchase of GTR Revolution is justified. [Issue#15]
Gamer.nl
GTR Evolution feels like the most complete but also last installment in the series. The next one will probably be more like a revolution than an evolution. And with for good reason. Evolution is starting to look a little outdated. Just don't let this stop you from buying this game. GTR Evolution offers you an all-in-one package of cars and tracks in a racer that's almost as good as the real thing.

GTR Evolution is definitely an evolution of the series, as opposed to a revolution, and while the game is in need of a graphical overhaul, the rest of the game is all you could ask from a racing simulation.

Like being married to Cheryl Cole. [Dec 2008, p.74]
PC PowerPlay
Evolution is a fantastic expansion to an already amazing race sim. [Oct 2008, p.64]
PC Format
The spirit of GTR lives on, but the engine needs an overhaul and even the hardcore's patience will eventually wear thin. [Dec 2008, p.98]
LEVEL (Czech Republic)
As usual from SimBin – GTR Evo is stunning driving experience. Owners of Race 07 should think twice before buying this game – many parts were “recycled” from the previous game. [Oct 2008]

Felipe M gave it a9:
I just don´t give it a 10 because of the buggy multiplayer. Should be a little bit better :)
Glen B gave it a3:
This is a rehash of the last version. Why buy it?
Sarge S gave it a10:
The best SIM so far and finally a nurburg ring where we can use awesome cars!
Kurt B gave it a9:
100% sim racing, if you like GT cars its the nicer version of GTR2..
Patrick G gave it a10:
I have made many races on RACE07. It is a fantastic game in terms of driving, better than GTR2. There is also some graphic improvements. Now, GTR Evo is on. And it is now that I realise that the GT's was THE missing point of Race07. Handling is fantastic, with a 200% forecefeeback enabled. We really feel the road. Perfect! I am really a big fan of GTR2 and made over 5000 laps on it. I must admit, GTR Evo is better... I disagree with the official Czchek review @70%. The GT's are new models and the game with full details (shadows, textures, etc...) is really beautiful. You will have to be very clean with the accelerator pedal with GT pro because the back of your car will go right when you go left... A great pleasure and GTR Evo is not more "arcade" at all than GTR2. It is a lie to say this... 10/10 to encourage people who don't know this kind of game. 09/10 to those who have Race 07. 09/10 to those who love GTR2 and would like to know a sharper experience driving. 07/10 to those who think GTR Evo will be a revolution compared with GTR2.
