Not only is the game fun, the movie sequences are a joy to watch and make a good game into a great must have title.

Stealing the best gadgets and characters from the movies, NightFire lets you decide how to topple the requisite megalomanical villain: Use stealth and gizmos (like Eurobabe-revealing x-ray specsthanks, Q!) or go in guns blazing.

Though Nightfire does have its problems, it most definitely could have been worse.

There are a million offices to search, but 99% of them are locked and, super spy that I am, simple office locks are beyond me. Fortunately everything Im looking for has been left in unlocked offices, or offices to which I find conveniently discarded keys, or, worst comes to worst, offices with a window that I can break and climb through.

It's a classic case where many problems outweigh few pluses and a stylized, cool by definition premise gets utterly destroyed by an incredibly short, substance-free kind of gameplay that ranges from frustrating to idiotic.

A little more challenge, depth, and length with the trimming of the lame on-rails levels would have made this one a near classic. As it is, though, it's an above-average shooter with just enough variety and charm to make the familiar trip worth your time.

Has its moments, but too often feels like a conventional, uninspired shooter.
The PC version's straightforward nature and bungled multiplayer options make the game a passable experience at best when compared with other first-person shooters for the PC.

Nightfire has some of the worst AI I've ever seen in a big-budget game release. [Feb 2003, p.61]
ActionTrip
What can I tell you about the AI? It's UNBELIEVABLY scripted. It's so scripted it's not even funny.

I like James Bond. I hated this game. As a stealth-action shooter, Nightfire has no redeeming qualities.

Outside of its swanky opening credit sequence and the appearance of the classic Bond theme throughout, it lacks any sense of style or sophistication. [Feb 2003, p.66]
Eurogamer
The problem lies in the way you coast through the levels without any real sense of progress or achievement until you realise youre finished.

Simply the most incompetently crafted shooter in living memory. [Mar 2003, p.98]

I like James Bond and all, but this was HORRIBLE! There are no missions with vehicles. Also none of the guns from the PS2 and XBox versions are in this game. It really detracts from the fun of the game.
Chris P. gave it a 4:
It doesn't have any driving levels! In multiplayer a headshot means nothing. It takes 3 headshots to kill someone! (Also personally I think the Bond babes look way better on XBox.)
James S. gave it a 0:
This game is like a cheap demo for ps2. I rated it because in PS2 there is 12 levels Pc 09 levels and in ps2 the levels have cars and choppers you can go in. the levels are longer more understandable (with a betta storyline PS2 ). The Weapon are rubbish and are verry small catagory of weapons PC doesn't have Walther PPK (Walfram PP7) and Gold. No Golden P99 only p99. No crossbow lots more that is not seen from PS2 to Pc. 1 Gadget is missing that is the shaver in pc. you cant fit and remove the silencer off of one or 2 machine guns. Graphics are rubbish. To warn people of thinking of getting this game on pc DONT get it on PS2 XBOX Nintedo Gamecube ETC Not PC had it for a month less i dont want to play it any more since i saw and played on PS2 version.

Good weapons and gadgets, very realistic. But no moon gravity in mlutiplayer.
Doo doofy gave it a 9:
It is fun, but you can't go back on missions.

This game has a slew of technical issues. That aside, gameplay can be described as mediocre at best. If you want a good "spy experience" play the No One Lives Forever games instead. They are FAR better.
