Summary
The Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust video game gives gamers an all-access pass to the glitz, glamour and gorgeous women of Tinseltown. In this 3rd person adventure game, Larry takes a summer job working on his uncle Larry’s movie lot doing odd jobs and trying to uncover a mole from another studio who threatens to air the studio's dirty laundry in the tabloids. Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust is a rollicking, innuendo-laden lampoon of Hollywood that features open world sand box game play that includes exploration, platforming, racing and puzzle-solving to complete missions. Additionally, the game features an all-new Directors Game that allows the player to create their very own "Larry Feature." True to form, Leisure Suit Larry Box Office Bust features sophomoric comedy and bombshell babes thanks to the writing talents of Allen Covert and an All-Star cast of actors and actresses, including Jay Mohr, Dave Attell, Shannon Elizabeth, Carmen Elektra, Patrick Warburton, Jeffrey Tambor, Nikki Cox, Peter Graves, Jane Lynch and Josh Keaton as the voice of Larry Loveage. Vandal Online
This Box Office Bust is a sample of how to change what worked completely for the worse.

This game is totally broken, it's impossible to find something good. The new gameplay is bad and the game lacks of all the stuff that people like in the previous games. Sexy jokes aren't funny and the sex itself is not so cool and funny as it should be.

Plays a bit like "Psychonauts," but lacks any and all of that game's wonderful charms. [July 2009, p.76]

Magna Cum Laude promised young adolescent players at least some (cartoon) nudity, but Big Office Bust has nothing to offer. Larry, what have they done to you?

Mindless, repetitive gameplay and a truly atrocious sense of humor help Leisure Suit Larry live up to its name--it's a total bust.
The lowest rating numbers here at IGN are reserved for games with nearly no redeeming qualities or interesting ideas, with next to nothing enjoyable to offer players, and which under no circumstances should be purchased by anyone. Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust is, without a doubt, one of those games.

How to lose friends and make everyone hate you? Here’s a recipe “from Vivendi”: kill a good publisher, take one of its classic adventure franchises, give it to the creators of Worms, spend all money on Hollywood talent voice-overs, and hope for a profit.

A weak sandbox affair. [Issue#20, p.55]
Cheat Code Central
The worst offense Box Office Bust makes is giving Larry something resembling a plot other than trying to get in the pants of the opposite sex. Instead of the simplest plots devices, we get a convoluted story with weak gameplay that never truly delivers on the funny.

It’s a crime to see how this series turned out, after a few titles with a quite good quality. This family of virtual seductive gigolos needs a reform, or maybe someone who revives the series from the ashes.

This is just awful. [June 2009, p.80]
PC Gamer UK
Boring, buggy, profoundly meaningless, and utterly dreadful in every imaginable way. Not just bad - this is novelty bad. [June 2009, p.92]
Gamer.nl
Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust is without a doubt one of the worst games in history. There isn't a single characteristic in the game that is worth spending your money on. With the buggy controls, it's the king of crap. Under any circumstances, do not buy this game.

The latest Leisure Suit Larry adventures show the very bottom where once an excellent game could fall. Absolute trash came from the creators of Worms – simply unbelievable. [July 2009]
PC Format
This game is a shameful dismantling of an iconic (though possibly equally shameful) gaming figure. [June 2009, p.101]

Goodnight Larry. Sleep tight and may we never see your scrawny ass again.

Literary gold. I have played games for quite some time and there is not a single line that I expect from within this amazingly written game, "Well guess what! my mother was a whore! so your insult holds no meaning!" to name one of the well written gold.
Ken H gave it an8:
Better than MCL. Very funny . camera angles are a bit off. Some hard controles till you get used to them. I'd recommend getting a game controller for PC version..Hard to move around with the keyboard.
Katie D gave it an8:
This is NOT your typical Leisure Suit Larry game. No, it does not follow-up with the other games other than Larry Lovage's return as the main character. There is no nudity and sex is only implied. What there is to be found, though, is plenty of great sexual humor, fun gameplay and an interesting plot. The graphics have gotten a lot better since Magna Cum Laude, and Larry is a LOT more likable, particularly since he is voiced by Josh Keaten (MGS3, Ocelot). Lots of great voice acting talent, too. Only complaints are that the camera can get pretty wonky so it may end up killing you a few times. If you can get past that, though, a real fun play if you take it as its own game!
