Armchair Empire
What makes Le Mans so fun to play is the simplicity of the racing experience. This will no doubt cause the game to lose favour from serious racing sim fans, but I found the level of difficulty perfect.

This game isn't flashy, no stellar graphics to oooooh and aaaaah over, no damage (which would have made the game much more realistic), and sounds that could use some work...BUT, it is a good racing game with a strong and reliable game engine that works very well and makes up for the other short comings.

Just like that girl you've chatted with on the Internet but have never met, an up-close inspection reveals several character flaws that make the overall product an undesirable option.

Le Mans has awkward control, horridly clumsy interfaces, and several annoying console game conventions.

The game fails at its most important job: the feel of driving. There's no sense of grip being gained or lost, weight transfer, risk of damaging the car, or many other principles of racing.

Unfortunately, after a two-stage porting job, all that's really left is some third-hand game code that won't even work properly on many current-generation PC setups. [Sept 2002, p.72]
Computer Gaming World
Le Mans is boring, the deadliest of sins for a racing game. [Oct 2002, p.104]
