Summary
New players to Lineage II will be able to take advantage of over four years of game refinements, making The Kamael the most engaging version of Lineage II to be released. Top of The Kamael's feature list is the aforementioned new playable race. With an affinity to dark magic, these single-winged warriors have finally been freed from their age-long exile. Through deadly and decisive combat skills, they aspire to attain their almighty 'final form' as a dual-winged demon. [NCSoft]

A nice package with all the elements contained in one place. This is a good anniversary package, though most of the newer content is for upper level characters.

I wouldn't say that I was hooked on it but I can see why others may be, if you fancy a change from the more common MMOs, I'd probably recommend Eve: Online first but if you're adamant on a more medieval style setting, give this a try. Just don't expect to hit level 80 this year, at least not without a lot of missed sleep.

Lineage II: The Chaotic Throne, Kamael: The 1st Throne is one tough cookie to crack; however, put in the effort and you will be rewarded with an immense world featuring a whole host of character classes, locations and quests to get lost in.

To play this as long as it demands is simply a waste of your life. Please, don't do it. [Mar 2008, p.86]

Brett D gave it a5:
I really enjoyed this game, mostly for the realistic graphics and character designs. I don't know what poeple are thinking when they say WoW is a graphical masterpeice...L2 is way prettier. I do sort of think that the given score is correct though. L2 is way to dependent on money income. Teleportations fees can cost up to 10k going from one city to the next, and soulshots are extremely expensive for someone who doesn't have the ability to sell items from one character and farm from another at the same time. By the time I reached lv 40 and needed to buy c grade gear, I had a grand total of 40k. Unless the prices get dropped, or loot gets increased, I don't think I will go back to L2.

When i get my hands on the person who gave lineage 2 a 38 out of 100, he's TOAST! I'm trying to avoid being biased since lineage 2 was my first mmorpg but it rules, the shear detail of the game and its immense size means that anyone whom just bought the game is in for hours of fun.

I agree with Jan S. Playing Lineage II on the official servers won't give you the best experience, but when you're a high class, and the only thing that you think of today is PvP, this is the kind of game to go. Another thing that kept me playing this game for more than 3 years is the looks of it. Out of all of the other MMOs, I would say this is the most realistic looking. The graphics are amazing not by the way it's with Crysis or any other FPS games, but the design and animations. The gameplay is very creative. Creating a clan is more than just having a guild, it's like being a president of a country. The idea of castles, clan halls and fortresses is another plus. These are one of the things that keep you on your main class without creating any alt characters. I like to say that getting to the highest level in this game is just the beginning... it's just limit less. And the leveling up, it's like going from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance (Another great particle for the design).
Sérgio G gave it a10:
Great game, i cant understand the meta score, i totaly disagree, i played a lot of MMOrpgs, and none of them made me stick so many time at... Lineage II has great graphics, a huge world to explorer, every expansion gives a load of new contents, and not only to HIgh levels, thats not true, Increniable sieges, and one of the best pvp games. Has for scenarios, this is the only thing l2 Lacks a bit of more filling of good looking stuff to give realism, other then that, i say 10/100.
Chris H gave it a9:
This is an MMO that one graduates to. I started off playing some other more casual MMOs when I was introduced to Lineage II and now I can't imagine playing anything else since they rest of the MMOs aren't as deep.
Jan S gave it a9:
It's sad and ironic that in order to enjoy the game you should not play it on official servers. There is plenty of equipement to wear, classes may not be balanced, but anyone can find a role for his character, lots of chances to fight with other players. The new race looks and fight very well. Too bad playing official servers you cannot enjoy the game since you're preocupied with killing billions of monsters, gaining levels, just to see that others arestronger than you. With time you get bored, you realise you have no chance to trake part in most interesting and fun aspects of the game...and eventually quit. I gave the game 9 mostly for how fun the game can be.
