Cheat Code Central
For football fans it simply cannot be missed. There are really no glaring faults at all. One would be hard-pressed to improve upon the graphics, controls, sounds, modes of play, varied content, and online play.

A difficult prospect when you're playing with a pad that has different mapping than the game it's set up for. [Nov 2007, p.57]
PC Gamer
Although Madden NFL 08 isn't all that it could be, especially in light of the console omissions, it plays an intelligent game of football. [Dec 2007, p.62]
PC Zone UK
Anyone with half an eye can see how the presentation levels have been slipping like a ferret on ice over the last few years. [Nov 2007, p.84]
PC Gamer UK
Still a solid sports sim, but more features means less fun. [Nov 2007, p.78]
GameSpot
Beyond a roster update and a couple of small additions, there's little to Madden NFL 08 on the PC to make it worthwhile to anyone who bought last year's game.

Luke L. gave it a1:
Once again ea sports takes what could be an awesome thing and turns it into a useless coaster. This madden is by far the WORST I have ever played. The AI is ridiculous. Either you win 89 - 0 or they make so many unrealistic plays to keep the game close. The instant replay is a joke, the CPU teams are NEVER wrong, even when they are. (IE I scored a rushing touchdown of 82yards, the CPU challenges and it the touchdown gets taken back because the ball never crossed the plain) 90% of the time a user challenges he is wrong, even when he is right (IE catch the ball and turn to run, the ref calls a no catch, you request a review, you see on the review you were no where near the sideline, yet they still say the ruling on the feild stands.) The only thing this game has going for it is it is the only Football game for the PC.
Jeff B. gave it a2:
Wow just got the PC version and it was nothing I hoped it would be. The AI is flat-out terrible and favors the computer for sure. Players make impossible defensive plays - like instantly changing direction the instant your QB releases the ball only to cover 15 yards and make a play on the ball before your receiver can catch it. Blockers are retarded and let obvious threats sack/tackle you while stopping obviously benign defenders. The comp always gets good protection in the pocket, even with a crappy O-line, while your first four draft picks were O-linemen and you get sacked every other play. The computer also seems to become invincible as soon as you are up by about 14 points, generating turnovers and making impossible plays like the cheater it is. The mini-camp games are still largely impossible and you need to play them if you want to level up your players. I chose to skip them and screw my player's stats rather than deal with the frustration. This year you can't switch the positions that your players play. WTF? It was nice to be able to move your players around in previous versions, especially on defense. Franchise mode still generates statistics that are completely unrealistic. Custom playbooks are still limited to 11 formations and less than 80 plays. Custom play building is still buggy and frustrating. The one thing that is new, player "weapons," is actually just a useless gimmick! For instance, if a player has a 95 speed, he gets a little foot icon above his head! If he has a 95 break tackle, then he gets a little bulldozer icon! It has changed nothing significant at all! This game was a disappointment across the board. I have been unsatisfied with the Madden franchise for years, and this years release proves to me that EA has ceased trying to make it better. I will go back to playing Madden 06 for now, and pray to God almighty that the NFL has the sense to let someone else use their signature in the future.
