Summary
In the world of Majesty, you are the ruler of the kingdom of Ardania. At your service are your loyal and somewhat obnoxious subordinates, who have their own minds about how things should be done. Majesty is the only game where your heroes decide on their own what should be done and when, leaving you to try to control them through monetary incentives. [Paradox Interactive]

In the end this game truly did stand up to its predecessors standards. It is fun and entertaining with plenty of replay value. It keeps your attention the whole time you are playing. Whether it uses comedy, drama, adventure or battle you just can't get enough.

Majesty 2 has been a long time coming, and no matter what your favorite variety of real-time strategy game may be, you will find something to like about it.

Majesty 2 succeeds in delivering a new kind of RTS experience. The removal of direct control promotes new tactics, especially in multiplayer, and provides a different way to progress through yet another RTS campaign.

Despite a modest visual, Majesty 2 - The Fantasy Kingdom grants hours of gameplay and a fun multiplayer.

Majesty 2 brings some fresh updates and spruces up the overall gameplay to make up for almost an entire decade of technological advances in between the games. It isn't cutting edge by any means, but the modern touch will no doubt bring many new players into the fold. They won't be disappointed.

Indirect controls, random battles, no diplomacy – can this be fun? Yes. Lots of upgrades, exploring the map and the colorful fantasy setting will get you hooked right from the start, including the just-one-more-mission effect. A real insider tip.

In a word: captivating. Majesty 2 is the perfect game for simulation and RPG fans. [Issue#25, p.48]
Game Informer
Majesty 2 is a better designed game than the original in many respects – the balance is improved, the interface is less horrible, and the economy model is vastly superior. However, it fails to project the kind of quirky charm that made the first title such a classic.

For those of you looking for something different, Majesty 2 is definitely one to try out. The humour is light, if sometimes cheesy, and the gameplay is certainly intriguing. Whilst it’s not without its flaws (but then what game isn’t?), this is still a highly accessible title. If Majesty 2 was an 80's TV show, I’d certainly watch it.

A unique and intense challenge for RTS fans bored of the same-old. [Dec 2009, p.54]

For sure it is not easy for Majesty 2 during the Christmas time against the real blockbusters. I had fun with this game, so you could also try it!

Although at its most basic level, Majesty 2 is more of the same, there are many interesting elements that make it attractive. The economic system is well-designed, watching the heroes wandering by is not nearly as boring as it sounds, and the strategy will keep you at the monitor long enough to become entertaining.

Majesty 2 is a fun and addictive fantasy title, combining a familiar setting with some different and innovative game mechanics, but is unfortunately burdened by poor AI and design choices.

This is an unusually accessible strategy game in that even novice players can sit down and begin the game easily.

The makers of Majesty 2 call your heroes “somewhat obnoxious subordinates.” That is an understatement. Their stubbornness makes this terribly challenging RTS, at times, nearly impossible.

If you’re a fantasy fan or a strategy fan that’s looking for a challenge, you should check out Majesty 2. Otherwise, you may want something where you have more impact on the game world.

If there was some actual replay value in the game and AI/pathfinding was improved along with some User Interface tweaks I would easily say this was a buy, but right now I am right on the edge of saying buy or stay away. Perhaps in a few months of patches the game will have improved enough to nudge me one way or the other.

By copying the original game, 1C: Ino-Co preserved its charm, but exposed its flaws. In 2000, they were excusable; in 2009, they are depressing.

A solid, yet forgettable fantasy strategy game with some interesting ideas, but a weak campaign and way too much repetition.

Majesty 2 looks as interesting as the previous one. A fast and fun game suitable for all users, regardless of their level of experience in RTS, with a fantasy world under the most typical and traditional guidelines in this kind of settings. However, the game is still too repetitive but is still perfect to enjoy the idle moments due to its multiplayer mode. One option that is almost impossible to go wrong.

Majesty 2 is definitely a game you should play as it changes the way you approach a real time strategy game.

The move to vibrant, fully-realized 3D hasn’t altered the formula at all.

I suppose if you're tired of Majesty 1 and want some more of the same action pick up Majesty 2. It should give you hours worth of game play.

Majesty 2's charms will wear off a few missions into the campaign, and then once the feelings of repetition and frustration set in you'll have little motivation to keep going. Track down the demo and give it a play or two and you'll probably have your fill of the game.

An intriguing spanner in the strategy game works, but one that causes too many malfunctions to justify its existence. [Dec 2009, p.90]
LEVEL (Czech Republic)
Majesty 2 is quite a mad game with chaotic controls and exaggerated difficulty. It is more an action RPG with unpredictable outcomes then classic RPG or even “Kingdom Sim”. [Oct 2009]

Ger gave it an8:
Interesting story. Fun. Little bit short playtime if you can do all maps on first try. Players who started to play RTS may find it difficult to complete= challenging Its a good game.
Tony R gave it a10:
Majesty 2 is not a blockbuster game. It was a quiet, nice, and cheap diversion. The improvement from the first game is immense, and the first game and it's expansion were brilliant. The patch that they've released addresses most all of the issues that people had with it. Is the game perfect? No, but it doesn't have to be at a mere $30. Well worth the buy.
George D gave it a3:
I enjoyed Majesty1, so bought this game in order to see what had been done with the unique gameplay of the original. The answer - pretty much nothing. The experience is essentially identical to the previous title, only with the added fun of having your game take 10 mins to save and crashing at unexpected and exciting moments. What was the producer's business model? Get 20 Russian game designers so drunk they pass out; promise them their freedom if they spend 2 hours slapping some better graphics on, then hope the game sells on name recognition? Sadly, I fell for their trap by buying the thing. Don't be sucked in like I was! Save your cash for a decent game!
[ANONYMOUS] gave it a0:
The entire game is pretty bad. It plays badly, fall short in multiple aspects of the original and yet, it could have been somewhat better if they didn't yank out (!) the editor in the very first patch. Now all steam users are screwed. Most other people keep the 1.0 with bugs to still have access to the modding scene, but we can't even have that. Terrible, give it a skip, especially if the price hasn't fallen yet.
Codi T gave it a6:
Great game, but far too short. If they add a customizable gameplay mode like the first Majesty had then it would be worth an 8 or 9.
Dan M gave it a9:
Great game, with a significant improvement over first majesty game. I read some comments and it's like they are talking about a different game. It's just great fun seeing your heroes leveling up and having fun killing hoards of enemy... just unique in RTS games.
Casey C gave it a5:
They took out some of the best features of Majesty 1 (Sandbox, Random Map) and instead replaced the game with what is at times blisteringly difficult combat with little to no control on the outcome. I venture to say the AI in the original may have been better. It feels like a downgrade from Majesty 1:Northern Expansion in everything but graphics.
