PC Gamer UK

A sturdy series well rethought, but it needs a gamepad. [Dec 2006, p.114]

80

IGN

The controls are tight, especially shooting, if you have a USB control pad. Ditch the keyboard. We would like to see the checking system tweaked a bit so players aren't so magnetic. Great puck physics make for exciting, organic goal scoring.

PC Zone UK

If you've got the time to master it, there is, as ever, about a year's worth of play to be had. [Dec 2006, p.99]

76

PC Format

The goals are satisfying, but there's nothing new. [Dec 2006, p.108]

Pelit (Finland)

The PC version has not much going for it. There are a few improvements over the previous version, and the old sins are all there. Still looks good, though. [Oct 2006]

71

GameSpot

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the versions of NHL 07 not made for the next generation of consoles offer little in the way of new content.

Games Radar (in-house)

While we aren’t impressed with the changes (or lack thereof), with the price reduced to $29.99, current-gen gamers are still getting a great game, and for half the price of the 360 version.

Sydney Morning Herald

The action can be hard to follow, but fans will appreciate the realism.

PC Gamer

I can't recommend NHL 07 to anyone who owns NHL 2001 or later. [Dec. 2006, p.126]

GameSpy

Even at $30, NHL 07 on the PC is overpriced. It's a budget title, plain and simple, almost exactly like last year's game with a minimal effort to include the new Skill Stick.

Paul A. gave it a1:
I think the EA Sports staff responsible for NHL 07 must vacation about 300 days a year and get together occasionally to see how they put the next farce of a version out with doing as little work as possible. I've given up on these hopeless bunch of jerks. Their games are absolute BS!

Pertti H. gave it a0:
Well, it is maybe the worst NHL ever. Only reason to buy this is that you see your own eyes how worst it is.

Martin S. gave it a5:
There is no reason to buy this game if you own NHL06. I think the graphics actually look fuzzier than last years release and the on ice sound (always a high point of this franchise) has definitely taken a leap backwards. Is it me or does it seem that every EA Sports sim have hall of fame rosters but this one? People who don't like the cliched commentary can do what I do....turn it off. It does work with Vista though. 06 worked once then never started again. If you can live without the roster updates, wait until next year.

Shooter gave it a7:
Overall a pretty solid game. I would like to see some changes made though. It would be nice to have some more game play sliders, such as the ability to tweak the goalies more. The AI on defense is lacking in some aspects too, many times I have seen players chase to a spot the puck used to be, leaving a clear path in the slot for the opposition...it's a load of fun to play though...not a bad game, but there is definite room for improvement.

Richard A. gave it a2:
Can't see how anybody would see this as an improvement. EA you're just not trying anymore.

Chucky B. gave it a10:
Better then 06.

Luca C. gave it an8:
I agree with some of the comments before, however the AI and controls are much improved over last year and the only thing that really got on my nerves other than the annoying invasive music, is the GUI interface. I don't understand why they don't just include a Windows based player/league/team editor. Consider it IS running on a PC, the possibilities would be endless. Also they still haven't included the music importer that worked for 03-04 and was super. Hopefully they'll make it available as a free download real soon.
