Summary

Experience the dramatic intensity of the frontlines of a war through the eyes of the first of a new breed of super soldiers in this gritty and epic first-person action game. In the not so distant Future, Lt. Nathan Frost is challenged to stop a renegade regime from eradicating the civilized world. Hong Kong, 2065. 2nd Lt. Nathan Frost is just a regular grunt until he volunteers for a super-soldier transformation for an international army called the Liberty Coalition. A painful series of surgeries gives Frost extra-normal abilities via implanted enhancements, which place him on the frontlines of a war against a destructive regime. After a military coup leaves him stranded in hostile territory, cut off from command with only a handful of men, Frost must stop the militia’s secret weapon that threatens to plunge the world into darkness. BonusStage

The bio-augmentations and weaponry are an especially pleasant surprise that open the door to literally hundreds of tactical possibilities, and the game’s visual presentation is second to none.

Play Magazine

The skillfully crafted Project: Snowblind calls on the best of what we enjoy about the genre, but the game feels nicely removed from the norm. [March 2005, p.52]

84

PC Format

Not big and not clever, but lots of simple, high-paced fun while it lasts... The story fits the action: it's speedy, unchallenging, over-the-top yet quite entertaining. [Apr 2005, p.108]

Xequted

The vision it presents of our military future is... well, actually, pretty damn cool.

Gaming Horizon

From a technical standpoint, how the framerate stays so smooth with all the action on screen is amazing, and the spot-on controls are icing on the cake.

Games Radar (in-house)

It's no "Halo 2," but excellent level design and the infusion of the augmentations into multiplayer via a class-based player structure adds a welcome bit of variety to the mix.

There was never a moment when I was playing this game where I was annoyed or frustrated, even as I crashed back to the desktop. I just wanted more and more.

Computer Games Online RO

A decent first person shooter, that you can easily finish during a weekend, without being sorry for the time spent in his company, especially if you're a "Deus Ex" fan, like myself.

Multiplaying is both fluid and fun and will provide an added shelf life despite the inability to toggle the difficulty settings.

Yahoo! Games

A solid, straightforward first-person shooter. It manages to stumble, gasping and grinning, from the no-man's land of "adequate" and into the green zone of "good," mostly due to the assorted flairs and presentational touches that make all the difference.

Total Video Games

But it’s this focus on action, strong weapons and robust gameplay that proves to be Project: Snowblind’s strongest aspect; it’s just a good, solid, enjoyable romp with a strong multiplayer component.

Tight controls, inventive action scenes and solid artificial intelligence all combine to make the single-player mode an excellent experience.

May not break new ground, but it offers a superb sense of flow and pacing, exciting combat, and a treasure trove of weapons and gadgets. That's a formula for fun.

IGN

The solid mechanics within this neatly presented package still lack a certain degree of charm, but Snowblind more than makes up for its slight hint of the mundane with a diverse and extraordinarily well-paced sort of action.

GameSpot

It's not the prettiest shooter on the PC, but it's got a good amount of style, and the run-and-gun action stands up pretty well, regardless of the platform.

PC Gamer

A quck-and-dirty port that's worth trying, especially for "Deus Ex" fans. [July 2005, p.60]

Game Chronicles

With a short single player mode, as well as no frills multiplayer, Project Snowblind won’t turn many heads.

Edge Magazine

While Snowblind never truly escapes the feeling of being a well-dressed, derivative run’n’gun shooter, it never fails to get the running and gunning right, and in that respect, at least, it’s a sound success. [March 2005, p.86]

Gamer's Hell

The multiplayer modes are all tiresome and boring, barely even worth mentioning.

games(TM)

Unfortunately, the difference between what Crystal Dynamics wanted to do with Snowblind and the finished product is a crevasse that good intentions fall well short of bridging, leaving the game lying in a Wile E. Coyote-style could of dust at the bottom. [March 2005, p.110]

Computer Games Magazine

A moderately entertaining, if staid, entry that, at least in its PC incarnation, will probably be left out in the cold. [Aug 2005, p.76]

Peter B gave it a4:
I found this, on the whole to be an average to middling game. The interface and HUD were a chore at best and a serious bother at worst, the plot line was fairly generic. This was supposed to be the "spiritual successor" to Deus Ex, but I found it to be just as disappointing as Deus Ex 2.

Chris I. gave it a7:
Positives: cool cutscenes, online, and huge arsenal of weapons negatives: bugs, not a lot of people are ever online, expected more from this FPS.

Tony L. gave it a9:
Pretty good game need a few online things fixing tho.

Brad G. gave it a7:
This game is truly FUN. It gets the action, weapons, and atmosphere right but it falls short in the same way most new games do; its too short. You can play through it in about 8-10 hours and thats if you take your time. The graphics are a little rusty as well, great if it came out in 2002, but definately tailored to what the PS2 can handle. I'd recommend buying it after it comes down in price or if you're not looking for a long title.

Terry D. gave it a5:
Let's see, overly complicated controls for an fast-paced shooter, cartoon-looking characters, and constant crashes. Not the worse FPS I've ever played, but not good. Some of the combat is not bad, but that's all it seems to be - one battle after another. Too bad, it looked like it might be good.
