Summary

The seas can be dangerous, but when you're in command of a crack strike boat crew, you might just be the most dangerous thing out there. Join up to the Russian, German or Allied navies and prove your worth out these on the open water. Control every aspect of your boat's defensive and offensive, from the anti-aircraft guns hobbling your enemy's air superiority to the torpedo strapped to the sides to sink destroyers of merchant vessels. Combining advanced strategic and action modes you can plan the intricacies of your attack and then lead your crew from the front and right in the battle. As you advance in rank throughout the long campaign you will gain access to new boats and even warships for you to command. Build up your crew in single player then go online and join your friends manning your own boat and challenge others in a battle to the death. [Akella]

My motivation to play PT Boats was gone after about 20 minutes. The controls are bit peculiar, continuous missions are not really based on a background story and the "Somehow, I already know everything" factor comes fast.

By adding real-time strategy to the simulator, Akella made a tasteless blend of genres. PT Boats is eager to please everyone, but it fails to find its core audience.

The simulation mode can be fun as long as there are opponents to fight, which seems to be quite rare. But then there are the other modes, a strategy view with a unusable camera position and a map that's just ugly. The presentation of the historical background is boring.

Shame on Akella! Do not buy this game, it is not worth a penny. Actually every user should get a small fee for beta-testing this crappy software... It is a huge rip-off! Though, a fantastic game-idea!
