From the creators of "Codename: Panzers", Rush for Berlin is a tactical real time strategy game, set on the European battlefields of World War II, during 1944-45. The player’s goal; to capture the German capital, as either the British/US/French alliance or the Red army of the Soviet Union. The act symbolizes the total defeat of the Third Reich and means the end of the war on the European continent. Players face more and more challenges, as they get closer to the capital. The game is based on historical facts and gives wide possibilities for changing history and playing an alternative reality. [Deep Silver]

A fun title that doesn't take itself super serious. A good breath of air for a subject that sorely needs it.

If you are a fan of RTS games and are interested in taking a fresh new look at WWII then I highly recommend checking out this game. Great details, fun gameplay, interesting storyline for the German and French Campaigns all combine to make a great title.

It’s surprisingly inventive, filled with a ton of destruction and explosions, and overcomes its old-hat wartime premise with a durable mix of complexity and fun.

It may not be original, but Rush to Berlin is fun, which makes it worth considering for a second, third, or fourth tour of duty. [Oct. 2006, p.73]

With it’s unique offerings it breaks away from the historical pack.

Overall Rush for Berlin just feels a lot better than most of the other RTS games out there. It’s a great blend between realism and fast-paced gameplay wrapped in a solid package that RTS fans will love. They’ll love it, that is, if they can get over this being yet another themed WWII game in a sea of olive drab releases.

What gets it by is its highly polished presentation and a refinement of the tried and true mechanics that we've seen in countless other games.

The pounding soundtrack, the huge campaigns and the four different approaches with each side you control will certainly make this one to keep the midnight oil burning for strategy gamers.

It's nothing new, it's nothing that's going to set the worrls of RTS gaming alight, but for a time it's as pleasingly enjoyable as Stormregion's other past offerings.

Worth Playing
This would be a good choice for a new gamer looking for a good RTS WWII title, but the veteran gamer might feel a case of déjà vu because nothing truly sets RFB apart from anything else.

Rush for Berlin is not groundbreaking or a game for the ages, but it doesn’t have to be those things to be fun. If you’re a strategy fan and you can put up with a few annoyances, you’ll find yourself having a good time with the game.

I liked Rush for Berlin and found myself returning to it many times. Unfortunately after about an hour or two, I would grow weary of the slow and repetitive progress I was making across the map.

A very good representation of the WWII RTS formula by pros who really know their way around the Battle of the Bulge. If any game is capable of convincing genre veterans of shivering their way through the Battle of the Bulge one more time, it's this one.

The single-player campaign is varied and hardly ever falls into genre convention, which makes Rush for Berlin a decent WWII strategy romp. [Aug 2006, p.78]

In the end, Rush for Berlin is still quite enjoyable despite its flaws and should be credited with making a good effort, especially since it could have easily been mislabeled as just another generic World War II title.

How about a six (Anything more would ignore the lack of freshness, and the fact you can pick-up equally good alternatives like Blitzkrieg 2 and Codename Panzers: Phase One for less than a tenner) and a quick reminder that the promising Company of Heroes and Faces of War are just a few months away.

Nothing new under the sun, really. For die-hard fans of Panzers it might be A-OK, but everyone else NOT becoming sick of "Just another WK II game" might want to look further.
