Four Fat Chicks
Schizm breaks no new ground but it goes over the old ground in high style. It's a long and satisfying game and yet at the same time not too frustrating.

One of the finest adventures of 2001. On a number of levels, the game is simply brilliant and belongs on the "must play" list for any serious adventurer.
For fans of the big canvas multiple-path challenge (think "Riven"); or for anyone else looking for a distinctive immersive week, this is an exceptional game.

The superb graphics and sound, combined with a truly intriguing story and absolutely absorbing gameplay, make Schizm a real winner.

Many of the vistas and landscapes are splendidly gorgeous, but the low resolution and ungodly amount of compression artifacting always reminds you that you're playing a game, not experiencing a new world.

It's nothing but a series of locked-door puzzles, and yet in most cases the puzzles are well thought out, original, and interesting.

Unfortunately this wont re-ignite the genre, but itll keep people going for a while, and it makes a pleasant change from the few cartoon adventures currently doing the rounds.

A very difficult adventure, and that, coupled with some other problems, prevents it from being very fun to play.
While the game is challenging, there are drawbacks, and most of those lie with the character acting. The vocal interpretations are somewhat bland, and those character actors providing their talents to this game visually need to feel the role rather than merely walking through the genre.

Myst clone lovers who need a really, really tough nut to crack will be in heaven with Schizm, poor peripheral elements be damned.
Read Full Review >All Game Guide
Designed for experienced adventure gamers and hardcore math and engineering puzzle fans, who still may find the game occasionally frustrating, but will be ultimately rewarded.
Read Full Review >Computer Gaming World
The majority of the puzzles are beautifully incorporated into the gameworld, but you practically need degrees in mathematics and linguistics to solve most of them. [Mar 2002, p.81]
Adventure Gamers
Its unfortunate that the difficulty will often bring a screeching halt to this. With the proper patience, seeing Schizm through to the end will have its rewards.

Although it plays like someone spent just a little too much time reading through junior high geometry books, there's some pretty amazing graphics and a captivating storyline right out of a Jules Verne novel, making this one of the most challenging and interesting adventure games on the market.

Probably the worst adventure game Ive ever played. Sure, I want a challenge, but Schizm is unplayable without a walkthrough. The storyline isnt even very good.

Martyn N. gave it a7:
Ok. really hard in places which gets very annoying and the interface is rubbish. looks lovely though.
Anne H. gave it a 2:
This is a beautiful game but the so poor with movement and has a tendency to be to diffcult for the average player. The guide is usless and nothing could me to finish this game. Really is a not user friendly.
[Anonymous] gave it a 10:
I've completed the game, and I loved every minute of it. even the frustrating stages were admirable once I understood what the challenge was about. Get ready for some astounding scenery and some tooth breaking gaming.
Neil H. gave it an 8:
I have to admit, I've only just begun playing. Visually, it is quite stunning. The puzzles are excessively challenging, which, in a twisted way, I like. Overall playablity is odd. Panning tends to be sticky. It keeps turning even though I've stopped, or turns in the wrong direction.
