Summary

Sims Have New Friends - Pets! Sims can share their lives with their new pets and add more fun to the Sims experience. From dogs, cats, caged animals and more, your Sims share new friends to experience life's precious moments. With so many different animals to choose from, there’s no telling what unpredictable experiences could occur. Create-A-Pet: Choose from dozens of dog and cat breeds or customize features for a one-of-a-kind pet. You can even modify your pet's body shape by choosing from specific colors and unique markings. Don't like the way they act? Change their personality – from smart and sweet to silly and sloppy – anyone can create their ideal animal friend in The Sims 2 Pets. Your Sims can encourage and discipline pets, training them to shake, roll over, play dead, and more. Unruly pets might dig in the yard, claw the sofa, or topple the trash. Thankfully, a little training can go a long way. Create and control digital characters over a lifetime, setting their goals in life from popularity and romance, to fortune and family– their stories are in your hands. Use special codes to share unlockable pet accessories, fur types or markings with other The Sims 2 Pets players. Your Sims' pets are members of the family and share all of life's great moments – whether it's kids training puppies, teens playing fetch in the park, adults watching TV with their cats, or elders enjoying a sunny day in the park with their long-time companion. Your Sims pets have genetics, allowing you to create the latest designer pet, including popular hybrid breeds like the Labradoodle, Puggle and Schnoodle! Like what you’ve created? Register them to appear in Create-A-Pet as a unique pedigree. Sims aren't the only ones with careers anymore! Skilled pets can earn a living from three career tracks – Show Business, Security, and Service – and work their way up through five job levels. [Electronic Arts]

Armchair Empire

No, it doesn’t tread new territory that hasn’t been explored in a previous expansion, but nonetheless The Sims 2 Pets turns out to surprisingly be the most engaging and addictive expansion yet for The Sims 2.

Pets is a worthy expansion pack. It's almost as much fun as a stick and a real dog. [Dec 2006, p.75]

Overall, however, pet lovers and fans of The Sims 2 will find this expansion disc more fun than licking yourself silly--and believe me, it doesn't get much better than that. [Jan. 2007, p.74]

For an expansion pack, there is plenty to do and see and it adds a completely new level of variety to your Sims' already busy life.

Games Radar (in-house)

By adding yet another layer of realism with the presence of animals - dogs barking in the distant night, cats napping on the couch, rodents running in their squeaky wheel - your Sims' world becomes richer and, thus, your gaming experience more enjoyable.

Like any new pet, sometimes it will drive you crazy when it pees on the floor, but the moment it does something adorable and curls up on the end of the bed you will love it all over again.

Worth Playing

The Sims 2: Pets is a very entertaining, exciting expansion pack filled with curious critters and adorable pets, so if you loved the last pets expansion, you will be sure to love this one.

It's not a bad expansion by any means, it just feels rather light compared to the previous three expansions.

The expansion only changes the game on a strictly superficial level, although it does this extremely well.

When it comes down to it, Pets is hands-down the least significant and useful of the Sims 2 expansion packs.

So while it's a Sims 2 expansion, and while it's about pets, it's a wellmade, superbly polished addition to the original game.

The Pets expansion adds an interesting wrinkle to The Sims 2 but won't set the world, or even your sims' house, on fire.

If you're a hardcore Sims 2 fan and you've greedily gobbled up all the expansions to date, Pets is a great way to give your neighborhood some variety. For players who are just coming into the game fresh, though, the other expansions provide a lot more substance.

Nicholas Y. gave it an8:
Although it doesn't give a wider range than others,Sims 2 Pets adds pets to the gaming experience. This pack lets you expand your imagination with the wide range of method you can make your own unique pet. Its the fun of raising your pets from their puppy days to their old dog days that makes this game fun. Its realistic in a way how you can take care of your pets and how pets really act but it doesn't let you do much with your pets, raising, teaching and bringing your pets out are what usually it revolves around.

Mia gave it a10:
I love this game because how you can do like evrey thing in real life to and the only thing that is scary how when my sims was alone a person in a bunny castom was in my house and ended up imn my shower now that was scary.

Will E. gave it a10:
The Sims 2 Pets is great, as it offers many new options and items, although mostly animal related. The Create a Pet is very flexible and can create amazing breeds of cats and dogs. It also offers things that are different from Unleashed, such as wrecking furniture, getting on beds and couches, being able to make pets in Create a Pet, you can see the puppies and kittens, and this time they have breeds and such. In closing, this is an amazing expansion pack, well done Maxis.

Rob C. gave it an8:
Great Expansion pack the Animals are cute and funny. But there is not a whole lot that they add to the game. But still a fun time.

[Anonymous] gave it a9:
Even that I am not a big the sims player I think this is a good expansion.

Brody J. gave it a10:
Its about freakin' time they got pets into The Sims 2, I was sick of having to play Sims: Unleashed to have pets.
