Summary
Experiencing all four seasons for the first time – from seasonal activities to all-new outerwear for unpredictable weather – provides a whole new level of excitement for your Sims. Not only will your Sims experience the seasons changing in winter, spring, summer and fall, but each season will deliver unique benefits, impacting your Sims relationships, mood, skills, careers and more. And be sure to dress your Sims appropriately for the weather -- freezing, sunburn and other unexpected weather effects can occur. Whether you're strengthening family ties in winter, letting romance bloom in spring, deepening the bonds of friendship in summer, or fast-tracking your career in fall, the seasons have a whole new impact on your Sims' lives throughout the year. Avoid the heat; take a dip in the pool and play Marco Polo. Go skating on an ice rink; have snowball fights, build snowmen or make snow angels. Each season unfolds differently delivering stunning visuals of weather effects and seasonal changes including snow, rain, hail, lightning and more ensuring a unique gameplay experience for many seasons to come. Show Off Your Sims' Green Thumb; make your garden blossom and reap the rewards. And as an added bonus, crops that harvest at the peak time can produce varying juices that reap special benefits, from love potions and energy boosts to cold fighters and smart juices. Time to drink up! [Electronic Arts]

Sure it looks the same, sounds the same, and plays about the same, but it's a whole new world out there, a world where nature reigns supreme and your sims must bow to its forces or suffer the consequences.

There is no question that the previous expansion packs (especially "University" and "Pets") wore out their welcome after a while. However, you’ll be playing with the effects of Seasons probably for the rest of your life – or if/until a "The Sims 3" comes out.

If nothing else, the changing of the seasons and their impact on your quirky Sims add even more variety and life to an already amusing people simulator.

It has well-balanced gameplay, and the fishing and gardening allow your Sims to finally relax and enjoy the great outdoors instead of constantly being in motion. Unfortunately, with all of these new features come even longer loading times.

The Sims 2: Seasons isn't anything groundbreaking, but weather effects, gardening and other new stuff are fun enough to make it worthwhile for any Sims fan. [Nov 2007]
Armchair Empire
Another small genesis for the franchise, which is now scarily ever closer to being as true a life simulation as it could possibly be.

One of the more expansive expansions and easily one worth your time and money.

Fishing, kissing, catching fireflies at night, building snowmen, wishing down the well and socialising around a campfire singing songs when the sun is setting is the back to basics gameplay that we were after this time around.

A great expansion pack to The Sims 2. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that it’s the best one out there. No, it doesn’t have the volume of changes and additions that some of the other ones have, but everything in Seasons fits so very well with The Sims 2 that it’s hard to imagine playing the game without it.

The fun comes from watching how differently each season unfolds and how it affects your Sims: Winter helps with family bonding, spring brings romance, summer builds friendships, and fall quickens learning new skills.

It includes weather, gardening, fishing, and a few new career paths. These features may not sound like much, but they're enough to make this one of the best expansion packs in the series...The main drawback to The Sims 2: Seasons is the price.

Seasons certainly takes the title in an entertaining direction, and does what any good expansion should – it builds on the experience. While not without a few errant cloudbursts, the expansion still manages to soak up the sun and provide a bright gaming experience.

Changing seasons provide great visuals for the passage of time, as sims grow up and mature. The effect is subtle, but it makes raising a sim family a more enjoyable and memorable experience.

Adding new careers, farming, fishing and seasons makes Seasons one of the biggest expansion packs yet.
It adds seasonal weather, crop farming, and some new group activities that can actually make the challenging gameplay of Sims 2 a more relaxed pastime. For players looking for a slower-paced experience that doesn't require you to keep track of the ins and outs of an in-game business--or constantly watch a hyperactive pet--this is a good thing.

Some nice cosmetic effects, new jobs and, er clothes await you the, Sims fans. If you really have to. And we know that some of you do. You sickos. [Apr 2007, p.73]
Eurogamer
The weather effects are quite wonderful, and there's something perfectly cosy about having a snowstorm fluttering outside the window, but they only change the game as much as you want them to. After the tenth rainstorm, the novelty starts to wane.

All of which leaves this expansion pack as probably the least essential yet. It won't disappoint any fans, sure, but there's little to make lapsed devotees come in from the cold. [May 2007, p.89]
PC Zone UK
As far as Sims expansions go though, it's mediocre. I mean, come on, it's bloody weather...And gardening. What's next? "The Sims 2: Picking Your Arse?" [June 2007, p.86]

Thank you Seasons! This expansion offers so much that I was hoping for, and so much more that I didn't expect! Great fun, the snow is so cool! (I want to use all caps there!). You should see the pool that I built on my lot, and snowball fights are the best. Thank you Seasons!
Methane T. gave it a10:
The Sims 2 Seasons is a great game to play. It is appearantly Maxis best and last expansion pack for the sims 2. I enjoyed playing this game a lot, I found it more interesting than nightlife, more entertaining than Pets and OFB, and a lot more funner than University. My Favorite season in the game was spring. I thought it was very amusing experimenting with hail and thunder storms. Winter would come second. It seemed to me that Maxis made winter to be the highlight of the seasons. As there are more objects and events for the winter than there is for any other season. But anyway, the seasons are a great add-on for the sims 2, I feel like my sims 2 collection is finally complete.
Bill G. gave it a9:
The Sims 2 Seasons is a great new expansion pack. It now allows you to have snowball fights, go fishing build snowman and new clothing. There is now new weather such as thunder storms, hail storms and very hot, so dress for the unexpected weather!
