Computer Gaming World
By impacting the micro and macro of Sims life, Unleashed isn't just a great addition, it's essential. [Dec 2002, p.122]

GameNow
Fans will appreciate the inventive dynamics and interactions that Unleashed brings to the original game. [Dec 2002, p.76]

Gamers' Temple
Totally packed with new features that Sims fans will love, and if you like animals, you'll absolutely love it. It is always great to see an expansion pack that adds so much life to a game - quite literally in the case of The Sims Unleashed.

Game Chronicles
You owe it to yourself, and your sims, to give them the widest range of human experience currently available.

After welcoming the precocious and mischievous fur-balls (and other assortment) into your home, you’ll wonder how you could have lived without them.

Armchair Empire
Provides a great new breath of fresh air into the game. The pets are so much fun to interact with, you may just start to ignore other areas of Sims living.

PC Gameworld
Unleashed’s addition of pets (and all that comes with them) to The Sims world fills in one of the few remaining gaps in this popular series and makes it more entertaining than ever.

The pet AI is a delight to watch. When the dog rolls onto his/her back when you pet her you just want to stare at the screen and say, “awwwww…”

The pets do add a new dimension to the game, though, and so does Old Town.

One of the better expansions for The Sims owners, and especially for pet lovers.

The core game--and its various problems--is definitely starting to show its age, but if you've ever enjoyed The Sims at least a little, you'll probably find Unleashed to be a worthwhile add-on.

Game Revolution
Another solid expansion which relies on adding depth and fun rather than tons of goodies.

All Game Guide
Slowdown and jerky animations seem more prevalent as each new expansion pack is installed; an understandable symptom of the now massive amount of objects and interactions, but less excusable considering that the system requirements for Unleashed are nearly double those of the original game.

IGN
Yes, The Sims Unleashed brings pets into the world of The Sims, but it does so in such a stubbornly rigid fashion that the end result is a bit disappointing.

Computer Games Magazine
With more careers, more objects, and a better-organized option control, Unleashed allows more versatility and easier movement among features. [Mar 2003, p.80]

ActionTrip
Ynlike "Hot Date" and "Vacation," which gave you a sort of a goal, this latest expansion pack somehow takes you back to the game’s basics, with no particular goal in mind.

G4 TV
New content is nice, but this piecemeal addition at $20 a pop of what should be sequel content is starting to feel more like gouging than a company generously giving its loyal customers what they want.

While The Sims: Unleashed offers plenty of new features, game objects and gameplay changes, it doesn't significantly add pleasure to the game, which is a real disappointment.
