Summary

In the far future, humanity is ruled by The Ministry of Accounts, an oppressive bureaucracy that tracks, records and taxes every transaction of daily life. From the depths of Red Tape, a new breed of marketeer arises to challenge the authority and make a profit: the Space Trader is born! As a Trader, you will attempt to amass a fortune beyond your wildest imagination, buying and selling commodities and taking up arms against the oppressors or even accepting bounty missions, hunting down crime bosses and their thugs. GameFocus

This game is part FPS, adventure game and a virtual stock market game. I was impressed by how each aspect of the game works within the core game, and while the game could be a bit more solid in graphics, audio, basically making it more esthetically pleasing. Addictive, very fun and innovative are the best words to describe the game and the bottom line is this is a welcome addition to any gamer’s library so buy this game and enjoy it, I know I did.

Game Chronicles

If you’re a hardcore shooter who enjoys a game with bleeding edge graphics and ruthless AI, then Space Trader is not for you. However, this game will appeal to Sci Fi fans, indie game lovers, and wannabe business tycoons.

Boomtown

Sure it won't challenge the big boys in the gaming industry, but it's up to indie developers to push unique ideas further. Hermitworks Entertainment should be proud of their game because it shows a lot of potential.

IGN

It's the repetitive gameplay, the thin narrative and the dated shooter mechanics that keep us from offering more than the most half-hearted recommendations.

Ultimately, however, Space Trader is just too traditional to ever move beyond mediocre.

It's about time PC gamers got a good space trading game to play, but it looks like they'll need to keep waiting.

Weak riff on "Elite"'s trading with zero long-term appeal. [Mar 2009, p.75]

[anonymous] gave it a2:
A very dated and clunky FPS shooter section I can forgive in a trading sim, but a poor trade section is death. Odd timed levels make game play more hectic than it ought to be. There are too many far better games to waste any time on this dog.

In F gave it a9:
Great ideas and great gameplay. I would really like to see a sequel to this game, where the all the parts (trade sim, ego shooter, space travel, etc ...) are more complex and less repetitive.

Dillon Of The Planet Dillon gave it a9:
Loved the retro look and always support the little guy! Indie developers made a great game on a shoestring budget. Kudos!
