Summary
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is your last chance to rescue America's sexiest city from an escalating terrorist siege that will force you into heart-pounding action from beginning to end. Sin City is back and bigger than before. Explore all new Vegas hot spots as the environment changes from dusk to bright daylight to dawn, creating a visual experience that is as challenging as it is breathtaking. The multiplayer mode in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas has been upgraded to include 11 new, smaller maps that force more intense face-offs, 2 new adversarial modes, more rewards, and easier access to matches using the improved and intuitive matchmaking system. Create your own identity that stays the same in both single player and multiplayer modes and progresses as you do. Reap the benefits of your single player rewards in multiplayer and vice versa. Turn single player mode into co-op mode at any time, just by jumping into the game. Now your friend can jump into your single player game and help you without any change to the story. Single player maps and storyline were created with co-op in mind, which means every map has multiple entry points and the story is the same. AI is more challenging than ever. Now, the terrorists are equipped with thermal vision, night vision, and shields – not to mention a multitude of varying reactions – all of which are guaranteed to give you a new playing experience every time you go into battle. As you progress within the game, you'll only be able to outsmart your enemies by taking advantage of intel opportunities, such as thermal scanning, and tactical strategies, such as leapfrogging. Take down the terrorists more effectively using 11 new weapons. New camouflage, clothing and gear allow you to take customization to the next level. [Ubisoft]

Sporting slightly more impressive graphics than either the 360 or PS3 versions (mostly due to the superior definition of higher-end LCD displays combined with flashy video cards), the PC version of Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 could be the best version of the game.

Nevertheless, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 remains a good game, recommended for military shooter fans and action games alike, because it represents the ideal combination between realism and action.

A refinement and general improvement on Vegas, as it's better paced, more consistent and bigger. [June 2008, p.70]
Pelit (Finland)
Quotation forthcoming. [June 2008]
Worth Playing
While Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 has departed from its hardcore roots and offers little beyond a second helping of the previous title, it is nevertheless a worthwhile, entertaining venture with just enough squad-based tactics to keep things interesting.

It irks me that in many places the Ubisoft team didn't bother to polish the details, but this game has so many nice little features that it's hard to stay angry for long. The weapons have a heavenly look and a hellish bang, if much too weak recoil. [June 2008]
Cheat Code Central
Vegas 2 may cover a lot of old ground, but like the city itself, it's something that you just can't stop paying a visit to every now and then.

Hopefully Ubi shakes things up for a third instalment however, because the current trend is going to result in something downright style and mediocre for Vegas 3.

Overall, Vegas 2 is a solid effort. Gameplay may not be particularly groundbreaking, but is of a high quality. [Jun 2008, p.57]

If you're expecting a good Rainbow Six game, you're just going to be disappointed.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 isn't terribly exciting when played alone, but it is solid when you go online.

With Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, Ubisoft delivers what's nearly a carbon copy of what we saw in its predecessor. Though little attention has been paid to alleviating issues with the single-player content, the online modes can be a lot of fun.

A fine extension to the original story, but its lack of tactical depth gets tiresome. [July 2008, p.54]
Gamers.at
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 disappoints due to the weak AI, the sterile level designs and its “only ok” graphics. Is it too much to ask for more missions in the dark, a better AI and more innovations in the sequels? [Issue#14]
PC Gamer UK
With or without others to play with it's a lot of fun. It's just not something to should about from the rooftops. [May 2008, p.82]

Nothing new here, but still a well-packaged good-looking game that happens to feature anti-terrorist forces preventing the destruction of Las Vegas.

Fun with friends, but folds like a nervous poker player in single play. Genuine chances need to be taken for the threequel to succeed. [May 2008, p.102]
GameSpot
It's not as sharp as its console counterparts, but this PC shooter still gets the job done.

This is definitely the weakest iteration of Vegas 2; if you have a PS3 or 360, it’s easy to recommend those versions over this one, even if the controls aren’t quite as tight.
The quality of the Rainbox Six-series has reached an all-time low. The AI opponents don't take cover properly and then don't even realize when they are hit. The story doesn't seem to be connected to Rainbow Six: Vegas and some scenes in the game are simply absurd. It feels like Vegas 2 was made out of bits and pieces that didn't make it through quality control when the predecessor was made. Great controls and game mechanics can't save the game from being mediocre.

Tyler W gave it a9:
I had fun playing vegas 2, although the multiplayer seemed a bit jittery at times. The voice acting in a couple of parts was F***ING FANTASTIC, like in the convention centre if you take the time to listen to what the terrorists are saying some of their quotes are funny as. Guns arn't that realistic and the AI is a bit run, gun, stop, turn, gun, etc. But all in all it was an enjoyable "relaxing" game
Karl H gave it an8:
Overall good time with this game. I won't rate this game based on the differences between 'ye olde R6' games and this one. If you remove from the title 'Rainbow Six' and many of the connotations associated with the rest of the series, this game is a very fun shooter. The single player storyline leaves much to be desired, but this game really shines in online play. Terrorist hunt is probably one of the most fun co-op experiences you'll have in an online shooter. The AI is decent enough to provide a challenge, and the weapons/armor unlocks and upgrades allow for cool and endless customization. There aren't many games out there where you can die 20 times and still have a good time. Not for those who are die-hard tactical fans, but if you're an avid all-around FPS player, you won't be disappointed with this game.
Alan B gave it a4:
The terrorist hunt is a massive dissapointment after the heights of Raven Shield. A.I. is more agressive which is very welcome, but the fact that the enemies spawn as you play instead of all at the start of a round makes the terrorist hunt a simple exercise in exploiting spawnpoint mechanics instead of a true 'hunt' like in the earlier games. Silent and stealth play also makes no difference to the enemies' perception of where you are, a major flaw. Overall it's not too bad, and at least the firefights are exciting, but it's sad that Ubi have chosen to discard the hardcore tactical play which made the earlier games in the series (Raven Shield and prior) such a joy, and turned this one into a simple run-and-gun.
Jared J gave it a3:
Still upset about the "To Be Continued" from the first I thought that the sequel would bring peace and more action. I was more then disgusted with it's graphics. Voice actiing severly decreased, and game play decreased. Graphics seem like they went down instead of up, very clearly on max settings and having the Desert Eagle out, it looked like something from an F.P.S. for the Atari! The story is simple thrown together and level design is bare and ugly. Weapon damage is unballanced and A.I. SEVERLY decreased. I was bord with it after two hours and it still (and probably will) remain(s) unfinished. 3 for theme.
Joachim F gave it a10:
An excellent shooter, alot better and improving gameplay over the last versions. But sometimes you end up dying, way to fast you start to go a little towards your enemies and then you get shot once and then you are dead, i would have rated 8, but alot of people rated it 0 because they dont know how to play tactical-shooter games, so it gets a 10.
cleber f gave it a1:
Great mix of challenge and fun; Pros: Controls, Bot intelligence, Bot command system as previous titles; Cons: Unplayable MP pings in Brazil and that is unforgivable nowadays. Too bad since I bought it for online matches. So the very low rate deserved!
TIM TBW gave it a9:
A really good game but too far from the previous rainbow six (rogue spear for example). High speed action, less tactic but a good story. Multiplayer is also good with mature players but crashes sometimes with some hardware components. I recommand this game for the story and the gameplay (similar to call of duty 4).
