Those with the ultimate system and mad teamplay skills will eat this up, though; it's a triumph of teamwork, dynamic gameplay and some serious strategy.

Redefines the team-based warfare genre with its vehicle combat, high-adrenaline missions, and mind-blowing graphics that will have you drooling over your keyboard, while dodging spinfusor discs. Shazbot, this game kicks ass!

I'm hooked. It's been a long while since I found myself staying up until 3:00 in the morning for days on end. Come to think of it, the last time I did that was when I used to play "Starsiege: Tribes."

The appeal of online warfare with this attention to the extras (turrets and vehicles) makes this an awesome online gaming experience.

Dynamix's final release serves as a mark of excellence in action-based strategy, open-ended gameplay, good graphics, and pure fun, with only a few stability issues and level design flaws offsetting an otherwise solid effort.

An addictive and challenging step forward for team-oriented shooters. [June 2001, p.87]
Da Gameboyz
The learning curve is straight up with no handholds or shortcuts; there is just no quick way to get going on the servers. However, once you get a hand on the gameplay, Tribes 2 will definitely be a title that will keep you coming back for more.
Games Radar UK (Pre-2006)
Tribes 2 could have been the ultimate on-line game that stood for years, but its slightly uninspired weaponry, occasionally bland level design and a control method that needs a whole world of tweaking, leave it open to much (if only slight) criticism.

A deeply challenging and unforgiving game that rewards perseverance but leaves those looking only for a little diversion writhing in agony.
GameSpot
It's with the large team games that Tribes 2 is really impressive. The scale of these games is unmatched; there will often be 40 to 60 (or even more) players on a single server.

In short, then, you should buy this game, and if you play anything online this year, make it Tribes 2.

If you're patient and spend a good amount of time playing against the AI bots, your enjoyment of Tribes 2 will increase tenfold.

Its got some very good features (voice communication, integrated community options, good team action), making it a game I can recommend if youre willing to suffer through the growing pains.

If you've never played Tribes before, well, heed my advice - "There ain't no butter like butter that's washed down with a healthy helping of squirrel."

Most of the pieces are in place but they are rough around the edges -- even after seven patches. If, however, you are able to overcome the technical difficulties, a great game can be found.

And still one of the best Multiplayer online shooters around, and the AI isnt too shabby either.
Chris M. gave it a 10:
I own it, i love it, i play it everyday.
Mark B. gave it a 9:
You can downlaod thsi ENTIRE game for free off gamespot now. Great old game.
Matthew L. gave it a 9:
It really is one hell of a game! The online play is some of the best around and the voice chat adds more depth and strategy to the team play. The only let down was the offline mode. But for anyone with a internet connection (of any type) it's a must buy!
Max M. gave it a 9:
Tribes 2 is unplayable for most players. I would say 80 percent to 90 percent of all players aren't able to handle this game. Even I (a hardcore gamer) am happy to get one or two frags per game. Very well done and maybe the best game ever. But only for the best.
l33t gave it a 10:
This game is cool. I had "Tribes 1" before, and I think this one is better.
Timanator gave it a 10:
This is a truly awesome game. The only downfall is the high system requirements which prevent some computers from running this game.
