Summary

The story of Twin Sector takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where the remains of mankind have been put to artificial sleep in cryogenic chambers deep under the contaminated surface of earth - until the planet becomes habitable again. You as the player must take the role of Ashley Simms, the protagonist of Twin Sector. Suddenly awakened by the station's security A.I. system O.S.C.A.R., you face the imminent extinction of all other still sleeping survivors due to an unknown failure in the life support system. According to O.S.C.A.R., you are the only person who was able to be woken and therefore the only individual capable of saving mankind. Within the next ten hours you will need to repair the broken main generator of the subterranean bunker system in order to reestablish the station's functionality. But there are yet unknown forces trying to prevent you from succeeding at all costs. Twin Sector is a thrilling physics-based action-adventure which allows players free interaction with their environment. Using the advantages of the powerful HAVOK-Engine, innumerable puzzles, challenges and enemies await the players in a hostile and threatening futuristic environment. Twin Sector is a game or you love or hate, there is no middle way. But if we are part of the first category, the satisfaction of having solved a puzzle and the obsessive desire to move forward are sufficient incentives to shut one eye on the various flaws that are hidden in the game.

The first impressions of this game are really good, but after a few minutes it already starts to get boring. The surveillance system O.S.C.A.R. is not really helpful. Messages like “Ashley, there is a problem” or “Ashley, the elevator doesn’t work” are simply useless. This game is nothing for a player who likes action games.

It's a motivating variation of Portal, but not as good. It's a case of "great idea, bad realization". The use of the glove works great, but unfair trial-and-error puzzles and the tracer battles are annoying. The last third of the game doesn't offer anything new.

All I can say is that if I were walking through a store, (although you can get the game online at Steam) I would have my "model 229 standard issue Robinson telekinesis gloves," in repel mode should I come across a copy of Twin Sector.

At around fifteen hours of crashing, poorly delivered cutscenes, unnecessarily thorny and intricate puzzles, not forgetting a complete lack of atmosphere and immersion, you'll find yourself asking that question a lot if you do decide to give it a go.

I appreciate that it made the effort to include full voice-acting throughout and… that’s about all. The premise of telekinetic gloves is solid, but without the physics and level-design to support it, Twin Sector is a b-game Portal knockoff.

Portal is my all-time favorite game. Ok, Twin Sector is not portal, but it is portal-like. I don't like the "battles" - this is a puzzle game, let it be a puzzle game. Also the controls are clunky, but the physics are decent. I wouldn't buy for $20, but if it went on sale for maybe $5-10, I'd probably pick it up.

My gosh, well I'll just never get critics! "This game is nothing for a player who likes action games" -- Uh, sorry, but, DUH? I mean, DUH!! That's like saying Doom3 is nothing for a player who likes puzzles, or Crysis is nothing for a player who hates graphics. LMAO Anywho, Twin Sector is cool. Wouldn't even think of comparing it to Portal really, but I can see the similarities now. But it's completely different. heh Fun stuff, IF you like physical puzzle games. The story is OK too, simple and too the point. The main char has a sexy voice (english ver), and I swear I know the OSCAR voice from somewhere else. A very nice game for the discounted price it is now (I waited and am glad didn't pay $29, $24, or even $19, but it's definitely worth the latter).
