Summary
(Also known as "Vega$: Make it Big") Develop a small den into a second-to-none complex and resort centre, using all the knowledge and management skill you can. Throughout the living, breathing environment of Las Vegas Boulevard, you will find customers notoriously difficult to satisfy and a huge range of exciting attractions, all designed to bring you maximum money. Competition is tough out on The Strip, can you create an entertainment resort to win the hearts and wallets of VEGA$? [Empire Interactive]

GameSpy
An impressive product that's only a patch or two away from true strategy game greatness.

Theres a lot to like here: a wide variety of buildings and themes to mess around with, casino design, landscaping, and just plain wandering around looking at the pretty lights.

Not for those who crave instant gratification or casual gameplay; rather, it is geared towards those that can sit for hours and immerse themselves in the world of the game.

More complicated than "SimCity" but loads more satisfying once you get the hang of it.

All that is Vegas is capture to great effect. I can almost smell the 35-cent hot dogs.
Computer Games Magazine
Although the extremely steep learning curve and unforgiving penalty for any "ooop" moment make this an exercise in frustration from time to time, the sheer volume of things to do, the amazingly detailed construction aspect, and the solid economy base make this a really good bet for hard-core sime fans. [July 2004, p.66]
GameBiz
The gameplay is fast and frantic as you dash between managing your casinos and outside complex, the graphics are excellent despite the fact that you may need to lower some settings for a smooth-running experience and the sound and music is perfectly suited.

Additional care might have been shown in the penalty for razing a structure or placement, but the awesome "sandbox mode" more than makes up for any grumbling you may have.

It has its own learning curve, no undo button and a buried interface, but the creative aspects and polish makes VT a recommended title for fans of Tycoon games.
It has a lot of things going for it, including beautiful graphics, oodles of detail, and lots of depth. Sadly, it's a game that doesn't quite hit the million-dollar jackpot due to some cumbersome gameplay, an unusually and often frustratingly high level of difficulty, and interface issues.

The makers of the well-received "Monopoly Tycoon" have created an entertaining sim - Vegas Tycoon gets the look and feel of Sin City just right. [Apr 2004, p.92]
PC Gamer
More of an interior-design sim than the Vegas epic you're probably imagining. [Mar 2004, p.61]
Edge Magazine
Vega$ pushes the stagnant tycoon genre as far as it can go, and is currently the best looking management sim available. But how far can you flog a dead Elvis? [Dec 2003, p.103]

M. C. gave it a 10:
I work in a casino in real life, and this game has all the basics of the industry. I wish the financials were a little more indepth, perhaps elevate the marketing portion, but all in all this is a good game. The game really made me laugh when one of my customers threw his garbage on the floor; he was 3 feet away from the garbage can. I've seen the exact same thing happen at work. They really got this game right.
Vincent B gave it a 9:
I picked this up last week at Wal-Mart & I'm totally addicted! A steal at $20. By far one of the best tycoon games I have played - ranks right up there with Sim City in my book. I'd put it ahead of Roller Coaster & Zoo anyday.
Joe S. gave it a 10:
Best Game Ever.
Ciaran G. gave it a 10:
Truly amazing game!!!
