Battle March will entertain fans of Mark of Chaos for sure due to the increased difficulty and also many other gameplay improvements. Since many shortcomings of the original remain as well, however, only those fans alone will truly enjoy Battle March. [Issue#14]

Battle March adds the Greenskin and the Dark Elves as new playable races for a new campaign and multiplayer matches. The three chapters of the campaign alternate between Greenskin and Dark Elf missions. AI and game balance haven't been improved since Mark of Chaos, but that doesn't affect the big strength of the game: it's dense Warhammer atmosphere. If you liked Mark of Chaos, then Battle March is probably for you. But it could have been more challenging.

Battle March’s only major flaw is that it expects the player to have thoroughly enjoyed the tabletop game.

Gaming Target
Players who missed the original game will certainly find a solid, enjoyable, but ultimately forgettable RTS experience in Warhammer: Mark of Chaos Battle March.

There is no chance to be bored, some missions have surprisingly innovative setup (the surprise is not always a pleasant one though). All in all, a model add-on despite its flaws and unfixed glitches it shares with the basic game. [July 2008]

A solid expansion to better the original. [Apr 2008, p.119]

My advice: If you want to play multiplayer, buy this game with friends; otherwise, you'll just get bored waiting around in a cold, lonely, empty server -- not exactly the best front in which to wage war.

Game Chronicles
The game tries to be both a roleplaying and strategy game but really doesn't pull either off.

The campaign was too barren and the skirmishes simply broke on the overall weakness of the field combat. [Apr 2008, p.80]

If you're an RTS or Warhammer fan you will probably still enjoy it, it's just lacking a certain something that would make it a good game regardless of whether you normally love RTS games or not.

IGN
As a real-time strategy game, however, it belies its fantastic and compelling Warhammer setting by being disappointingly average. Gamers interested in a good strategy game should look elsewhere.

A missed chance to address the problems of the original. Battlemarch is simply more of the same thing that didn't really work first time around.

Battle March adds some new features here and there, but doesn’t really add much incentive for players to jump back in, and the dated feel will probably prevent newcomers from taking the plunge.

Battle March continues working the Warhammer saga, although this time it doesn´t contribute any important newness to separate it from Mark of Chaos. A videogame more tactical than strategic that nevertheless fails in the control of our troops.

It's just not good enough to warrant shelling out for both this and the original. And that is the real problem. [Apr 2008, p.70]

Ultimately, Battle March has added a new single player campaign, a little meat to the multiplayer, and two new factions to take control of.

A game that feels a bit like what Lord of the Rings would have been if Tolkein had decided to write it on an Excel spreadsheet. [May 2008, p.113]

It’s not for everyone, and it’s certainly not Game of the Year material, but if you do pick it up and manage to overlook its flaws, you may find yourself pleasantly surprised.

A tragically missed opportunity. There are hints of an excellent Total War-style real-time tactics game married to the undeniable crazy charm of the Warhammer Fantasy universe.

A new campaign featuring orcs and dark elves is the only noteworthy addition in this expansion for Warhammer: Mark of Chaos.

We think Battle March works best as a companion to a serious tabletop Warhammer player… On the other hand, if your love for RTS is equal to your love for Games Workshop, then Dawn of War should remain your Warhammer game of choice. [Aug 2008, p.60]

Hardcore Gamer Magazine
The engine may be aging and looking a bit ragged around the edges, but the game’s heavy emphasis on strategy and the persistent units in the campaign make for hours of scaling castle walls and slaying your foes.

Worth Playing
Not to sound like a petulant child, but Warhammer: Mark of Chaos - Battle March is underwhelming and not fun. The gameplay is inconsistent because the title is constantly fighting with itself about being an RTS or RPG.

While the controls aren't as big a deal on the PC, the spotty AI, poor pacing, and lack of depth doom both versions. [Nov 2008, p.118]
