This is one of the best games I have ever played on a computer. I find myself "missing it" when I am not able to play it.

A second shot of adrenaline that complements the original game, Legends II improves upon all the things that made the first Legends great. Voice work is a tad on the corny side, but the cooperative mode and RPG depth just below the beat-em-up surface make this game a real winner.

X-Men Legends II isn’t a drastic improvement over the first game, but it is definitely an improvement and ultimately a fun game.

Most of the challenge may be in timing the super combos correctly, but there’s an elegant simplicity to the gameplay which endures throughout.

The result – a fantastic action RPG that fans of the Marvel universe and non-fans alike should enjoy sinking their teeth into for more than a couple of hours.

While the biggest and most obvious addition is the spectacular inclusion of four-player-cooperative online play, the doubled super powers, the playable evil mutants, the streamlined menus and more interactive environments make this sequel a worthy sequel in all respects.

In total, the story mode alone took me around 25 hours to complete, so it’s not a game for those looking only for a quick experience.

A must buy for all X-Men or RPG fans. Chalk up another home run for Activision 'cause this one's out of the park

This game contains more explosions than any game I can remember playing in recent history.

It's just about everything a fan could want even if it's more popcorn than a "serious" RPG.

The Legends series continues to be above average. Here’s hoping future entries will be improved further.

The sequel is not extraordinary in any way, but it is bigger than the original in almost every way.

In most respects, the game doesn’t differ much from the first title in the series; but the novelty of teaming up the good guys and bad guys to go after the really bad guys is enough to make this game enjoyable in its own right.

If you loved the original, or require the online play, feel free to pick up X-Men legends II; just don’t expect more than a continuation of the title you finished a year ago.

Promising at least 20 hours plus gameplay (not including the multiplayer facets) is nothing to sneeze at. X-Men Legends 2 isn't miles away from the original which will please fans of the first game undoubtedly.

There's tons of content in the form of characters, powers, stats, and unlockable treats, and the action -- especially during the boss fights -- is usually satisfying. It can be a bit too linear and the clumsy keyboard/mouse setup detracts from the PC version a bit, but otherwise, it's uncannily good.

It would have been nice if the storyline was a little more open ended and the RPG element was emphasized.

If you happen to be an X-Men fan and enjoy running through fairly linear, enemy-filled levels, smashing up highly destructible environments, and collecting scads of shiny items, Rise of Apocalypse ain't a bad way to spend a few Friday nights with some friends-and it's still a hell of a lot better than those damn comics.

Its simplicity is its strength, and its weakness – while traipsing around looking for annoyingly hidden items and backtracking is almost completely avoided, the limited direction of the game reduces its chances of holding your interest for long enough to play it all the way through.

X-Men Legends II is a gem for comic book fans, or fans of a good action RPG. The game offers a very balanced proportion of depth, control, and action.

As long as online play isn't a dealbreaker for you, it's one Marvel-ous action RPG. [Holiday 2005, p.58]

With a mouse or gamepad [sic] in hand, however, it's one of those likeably repetitive games that develops a rhythm that's hard to resist. [Dec p.54]

It's about time somebody grabbed this licence by the proverbials and created something special. Sadly, this game isn't it. [PC Zone]

Mehdi T. gave it a10:
Absolutely great and definitely the best and most fun x-men game ever produced. The game is very loyal to the x-men comix also.
Apache gave it a10:
I love this game. The Co-op alone makes this a great game to play with TB. I would suggest everyone to get a headset, voice communication software and some friends to go on a all out rampage x-men style.
T Cherry gave it a10:
I love x-men and the game itself is great.
