It's classic side-scrolling action like it was originally designed to be played. The two selectable characters and brain-spraining puzzles mean you'll get more than your money's worth in replay value.

This is 2D action gaming at its best and I'll take this over almost any 3D adventure game or platformer any day of the week.

Solid and consistent. If you loved 4 then you're almost certain to love 5. On the other hand if you've always hated Megaman then move on as this is truly more of the same.

The challenge made for a frustrating game, but this keeps you driven to win. The graphics are nice, and the sound is good but the gameplay is what REALLY makes MMX5 worth playing.
Game Revolution
A fun game. It's classic Mega Man, a formulaic game that sticks to the same ground rules, but still works. And getting back into the familiar 2D groove just felt really good, especially with the gameplay refinements.

Every aspect from the story to the sound will be completely familiar to anyone who's dabbled with the series before, and while this latest adventure doesn't do much to advance the series, it's a fine little game nonetheless.

Fans of the classic 2D games will no doubt find much to love in X5, while those who can't get into the aging conventions and mechanics probably won't care a great deal for it.

It's a bit of a step backwards, taking the more exploratory 3D incarnations into consideration. Still, if you're looking for some chaotic old-school 2D side-scrolling mayhem, it's worth checking out.

No big surprises here, from level design to weapon selection. A complete retread of yesteryear's game play.

Nothing more than a fun, nostalgic 2D platforming romp that will only appeal to true hard-core fans.

Ian gave it a10:
In my opinion, this is the best X-series game that has ever been released. I used to play X4 and 5 on my cousins' PS1 at my aunts house when they brought it, and that's what made me get Collector's Edition. Ah, the memories. Anyway, to the review. The music is very good (I actually didn't really like Dynamo's theme that much (*cough*Armin M.)). Probably my favorite music in the game is tied between: The stage intro (where it shows the boss before the level), the opening movie (especially the American version (longer)), and the final Sigma stage's music. For graphics, it is only surpassed by X6 in 2D graphics. For gameplay, every boss and level is different. I enjoy blasting the enemies to bits and when I have the Ultimate Armor's Giga Attack, I LOVE owning the bosses. Overall, this game is awesome and brings back some of my very fond early (I was 7) childhood memories.

game is enjoyable. It isn't as great as some of the other x-series games, but it's not a disaster by any means. The music is catchy (Dynamo), the option of X or Zero keeps the game fun. The difficulty wasn't too high, the bosses seemed harder with X than Zero, despite Zero's close-range handicap. The game get's INCREDIBLY fun when you hax the game and get X's ultimate armor from the very beginning. Oh how his Giga Attack amuses me so. The first final level was quite challenging, and in megaman fashion we see some familiar faces. In conclusion, not bad.

Although X4 is great, X5 is much better. I remember when this first came out, and I was all over it. Beat it 100% in a week.

Man!I have this game and I cracked the game!I always used Zero because of the saber. With it, I rock!
Ryan T. gave it a 7:
This game seemed subpar compared to the incredible Mega Man X4. The music is also not the best I've seen it at, but some tunes are good to hum to. The collecting of 2 different suits of armor, though, is new and is certainly welcome to the series. The game also starts you off with the X4 suit of armor if you play as X. Also, all of these new characters such as Alia and Dynamo seemed to pop out of nowhere, so there was no time for character development. They seem more of a nuisance than an importance. Try your best to listen to the story, cause it's a bit confusing. ANYway, I did enjoy playing this game, partly because I collected all the cool stuff. Any Mega Man fan will no doubt play this game over and over.

It's pretty good but not as good as as x4 I like x4's amour system more you find an amour piece you get it. but in stead of writing a novel I just gotta say buy it zero is so kewl.

I think it rocks.
