Summary
Being the last baseball game out of the blocks is not all bad. This year gives MLB 2002 the advantage of the most up-to-date rosters to go along with its myriad of gameplay modes including Spring Training, Exhibition, Season, All-Star Game, Playoffs, World Series, and Home Run Derby.

If you can get past the sluggish pacing and incessant overcomplication, MLB 2002 is a wonderful game.

989 Sport's MLB 2002 continues the tradition of Deja Vu with an aging foundation that is still fun to play.

Almost every aspect of this series has been tweaked, from the graphics to the artificial intelligence to the TV-style presentation (new camera angles and more commentary for starters).

It comes down to whether you prefer the presentation and atmosphere of "Triple Play" to the interface and shine of MLB. Surprisingly, 989 has strengthened MLB’s baseball simulation.

Christian S. gave it an 8:
It's all right, it's not too bad. Compared to triple play, it is a lot better!
[Anonymous] gave it a 9:
It is a 9 because somtimes when you get a hit they don't mark it as a hit.
Frank A. gave it a 9:
I'ts fun and has different game modes and updated rosters. It's too easy to win.
CJ S. gave it a 10:
This is the best baseball game (up to this year).
Mike D. gave it an 8:
Sometimes, you hit a home run and they don't mark it as a hit, and it hurts your average. For example, one time I went 1-4 with 2 home runs. The coolest part is spring training mode; lots of fun.
Jon C. gave it a 3:
The commentary is horrible. Say that a person hit a homerun last time the next time he comes up they said he flied out. What??? Its unrealistic and choppy.
