Game Over Online
Its biggest flaw is that the dogfights that are nominally its focus are satisfying and will keep you engaged, but escort, bombing, and recon missions are a lot more fun.

It's not nearly as good as "Ace Combat 4," but it's enjoyable enough to tide you over until the next Ace Combat game.

If you like cheeze anime character dialogue and clichés and you like a fairly solid arcade flight sim then you'll probably like Aiforce Delta Strike. There are a ton of planes to fly, plenty of missions and fairly good graphics to weld it all together.

Next Level Gaming
It has its ups and downs, but the goods outweigh the bads in the very end.

It lacks multiplayer, so long-term playability is questionable, but with 60 missions, 130+ planes, and an interesting story to work through, youll be spending a good, long, time with this game.

Had the enemy AI been better, the speed not so sluggish, and the combat a little bit more on the arcade side like "Secret Weapons Over Normandy," this game could have been something special. [Feb 2004, p.97]

Neither as disposed toward realism as the Namco "Ace Combat" series nor quite as "on the arcade-stick" as Sammy Studios' "Lethal Skies," AirForce Delta Strike is a basically solid, good-looking, and engaging campaign, albeit a repetitive, hitchy one.

Most combat objectives are immediately recognizable to anyone who's logged a few hours in either "Ace Combat" or "Airforce Delta". Not that htis is really a bad thing, because ultimately, the sci-fi story and design is sufficiently compelling. [Mar 2004, p.88]

The visuals are sharp and clean all around, and the game features plenty of slick aircraft shots and beautiful skylines.

Delta Strike goes for a story-driven approach to its presentation, which ends up crippling the better moments with vapid dialogue and off-putting anime-style character drawings. [Feb 2004, p.47]
GameZone
Missions get repetitive a short way into the game, but the aircraft control like a dream. The story goes a long way towards keeping things interesting and moving forward, giving purpose to the mission at hand.

The AirForce Delta series has always been of middling quality and has never really been able to live up to its contemporaries, such as "Ace Combat" and "Lethal Skies," and Strike does little to buck that trend.

The number of airplanes and the graphics and detail used to create said aircrafts is amazing and the controls are very user friendly, but the mentally challenged AI and monotonous missions make for some really uninteresting gaming.

Not bad but not great, it's a generally middle of the road air combat action piece that offers a nice list of options, nice visuals, and powerful sound,... but with the uninspired nature of its flight engine and mediocrity of level design don't do much for it in the long run.

You might enjoy the tough love of the strategy phase, or you might be so furious at unclear missions that the game doesn't feel worth it. The graphics are unimpressive, and the gameplay will be too simple for hard-core flight jockeys, but the good-looking replays are worth a mention.

I can feel its charm and want to like it, but at the end of the day AFDS doesn't deliver what it is supposed to: high velocity action with white knuckles wrapped around your controller. What you are left with feels worn out, slowed down and paper thin. A shame really.

The missions themselves are plenty fun, but they're nothing that "Ace Combat" hasn't done better and more often. It's a similar story for the reasonably tight controls and physics: good, but nothing exceptional. [Mar 2004, p.98]
Cheat Code Central
Ultimately as fun as it is for a while it soon becomes apparent that the good times are short lived. It's a shallow arcade experience that doesn't venture beyond its restricted airspace.
PSM Magazine
The flight sequences, while not drop-dead gorgeous, are okay, but the endless bickering and inane character interaction during the cutscenes will drive you freaking crazy! [Mar 2004, p.40]
Computer Games Magazine
The game suffers from severe graphical issues. [June 2004, p.11]
Electronic Gaming Monthly
I usually have a hard time falling asleep on long flights. But I really did conk out during one of Delta Strike's many dull, virtual-lullaby cinema sequences. [March 2004, p.115]

W. Royal gave it a 3:
The only redeming quality of this game is the amount of planes that are rendered and flyable. The Dogfights are lousy, and the game chatter while in the air is annoying and pointless. This is definitely a title to rent not to buy.
Harrison Y. gave it a 7:
Sure its got its good moments, but At times the missions seem to jump from easy, to hard, then easy again the number of planes you can fly is enjoyable...giving you a bit of an urge to buy the nect plane, check out how it handles and see the new cockpit but it needs a bit more improvment in the difficulty department, even at the end it leaves you a tad bored.
Roberto R. gave it a 10:
This game is very good. Regardless of the graphics, the gameplay and the storyline is very compelling.
Ricardo G. gave it a 10:
Excellente!
