Daily Radar

FIFA 2001 may not be revolutionary in gameplay or depth like Madden, but it's revolutionary in terms of graphics -- and it brings home the ultimate vision of soccer game creators better than any game before it.

Gaming Maxx

If you like soccer games, and are fortunate enough to have a PS2, you NEED this game. As far as the imperfections of the game, let's face it - EA needs to give you a reason to buy Fifa 2002, right?!

GameSpy

While FIFA 2001 is hardly perfect, its still the best soccer (excuse me: football) game to date for any of the "next generation" systems.

Gaming Age

FIFA not only sports fantastic controls, but beauty to go along with it's other two outings ("Madden" and "NHL"). Is it just as good as the other two? You betcha!

GameSpot

FIFA 2001 isn't flawless, but the game is extremely well rounded and it excels in every category.

Operation Sports

Not only looks amazing, but it plays an excellent game of the sport as well.

Hot Games

Hands down (pun intended) the benchmark for football games.

GamePro

You'll be hard-pressed to score more than a couple goals. But that just mirrors real life, and the action delivers plenty of thrills.

The audio is equally impressive, with noisy spectators (local chants, cheers and boos), color commentary by announcers John Motson and Mark Lawrenson, and music written and performed by none other than electronica superstar Moby.

The graphics are great, the sound is great, the animation is great, the gameplay is great, and the whole package is just freakin' great.

Electric Playground

All it needs for 2002 is the ability to start a riot and you won’t be able to tell it from the real thing.

PSX Nation

It's pure FIFA, American style the way I've come to know and love it. Go Burn!

Core Magazine

Delivers impressive graphics, audio, and smooth gameplay, but doesn't provide the same depth of gameplay as many other EA Sports titles. For the casual sports gamer, FIFA may be an entertaining, enjoyable title, but hard-core soccer fans could be left wanting more.

Happy Puppy

The game is very realistic, keeping scoring down, but lost is some of the fun that comes from chaos in front of the net.

More like the well-refined older brother of the entire franchise rather than a fledging title on a new system.

Spank!

Fifa has got all the right connections while "ISS" is much better qualified to do its job.

Games Radar UK (Pre-2006)

The best thing you can do if you want a fantastic footy game on your new PS2 is to find a copy of PSone's "ISS Pro Evolution." It'll be half the price, but twice as much fun.

Sports Gaming Network

Boy, am I a sucker! Not only is Fifa 2001 for the PS2 actually worse than the PC version, it's a complete bastardization of the Beautiful Game and one of the most shallow and boring games I have ever played.

Neil "Frog" W. gave it a5:
I use to Love this game. "Use to be" the best football game i have ever played. But when u come fom a N64 to a PS2. theres no argument. But after playing PES4/WE8 Theres nothing more to say than. FIFA Can't make real football games. Soccer, as many of us call it, its more about getting possession and keeping it. fifa is like, 'lets run through ppl to get the ball. Tacklings gotta be realistic. and the ball.. pfft. what is it a bouncy ball or something. But like i said. use to be great. but now its not.. i never play it nemore.. neone want it? ill see it to ya.. hahaha.. also. don't turn around and say 2005 is better.. yeah it might be. but its still a FIFA soccer game. it's probably just got better graffics...

David Beckham gave it a 10:
UNITED! UNITED! UNITED! FA CHAMPS 2004.

Ziggy Stardust gave it a 5:
Pretty fun. i can only score 1 way though (center it and bicycle kick it from the middle) which makes it a little boring. also i don't like any of the camera views. you can only have it too zoomed in or too zoomed out. great graphics and good 2 player gameplay are what makes the game good.

James S. gave it a 10:
The game is great! There is not a whole lot more to say about it. The graphics are incredible, and the game play is stellar.
