Summary

In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry returns for his fifth year of study at Hogwarts and discovers that much of the wizarding community has been denied the truth about the teenager’s recent encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort. Fearing that Hogwarts' venerable Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, is lying about Voldemort's return in order to undermine his power and take his job, the Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, appoints a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher to keep watch over Dumbledore and the Hogwarts students. But Professor Dolores Umbridge's Ministry-approved course of defensive magic leaves the young wizards woefully unprepared to defend themselves against the dark forces threatening them and the entire wizarding community, so at the prompting of his friends Hermione and Ron, Harry takes matters into his own hands. Meeting secretly with a small group of students who name themselves "Dumbledore’s Army," Harry teaches them how to defend themselves against the Dark Arts, preparing the courageous young wizards for the extraordinary battle that lies ahead. With the ability to play multiple characters, including Harry Potter, Dumbledore and Sirius Black, the videogame of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix offers fans the opportunity to wield a wand, explore all around Hogwarts, and experience one of the most exciting and dangerous years in the life of the Boy Who Lived. While the spells themselves are of limited value with the PS2 controller, the game is really quite good.

The best Potter adventure ever and the best licensed game on PS2. For fans, it's essential and for everyone else, it's highly recommended. [July 2007, p.74]

Order of the Phoenix is without a doubt the best entry in the Harry Potter game series to date.

A confident film-to-game delivery. Although, as we hinted at the start, there is not an awful lot for the more mature gamer, there is a lot of fun to be had if you are willing to dig in and get your hands dirty.

IGN

It is by far the most immersive journey to Hogwarts to date thanks to the realization of a truly enormous, often-beautiful world that is wholly connected without any load times.

Order of the Phoenix is the first movie game of the year that would be considered solid for a game, period. For a movie tie-in, it's spectacular.

I'll summarize this way: If you're a Harry Potter geek then this is a must have. If you're just a gaming geek then you may want to pass.

While the core mechanics of Order of the Phoenix are verging on excellent, the game that's been built around them is basically a series of chores in disguise.

The video game version of Order of the Phoenix captures none of the magic in the Harry Potter books or films.

Order of the Pheonix is all about homework and chores, and feels harder to take in than a whole book - those are poor marks for a video game.

That Warner Bros. actually authorised this Smart Price slice of blandcore to promote the finest film in the Potter canon is doubly tragic.

Katie L. gave it a7:
I'm not a major computer game player, but I'm a big fan of Harry Potter and as I had seen the film of the 3rd day of release, I thought that I'd give the game a go. The only other Potter game I have is the Chamber of Secrets so you will find me referring to that. The graphics are exceptional and the sound is also pretty good. I love the fact that you can explore Hogwarts to the max and the discovery points are a good idea because once you finish the sotry, there is still loads more to do. However I think that this makes up too much of the total game. Unlike Chamber of Secrets, you cannot lose the game or get sent back to a saved point because of dying. In my opinion, the game is way too easy and I finished the game in 2/3 days. Considering i dont play computer games very often, it shows that the game is way too easy. I prefer the way games are cast in OOTP as it is much more interesting however other than that, there are too many story sections, many of which cant be skipped, and not enough fighting and figuring out puzzles. Pretty much, most of the answers are given to you on a plate.

James D. gave it a10:
This is the best Harry Potter game for PS2 with interactive enviroments and full run of the entire Hogwarts castle!

Tom K. gave it an8:
Games that are based on movies are usually very bad. but i like the Harry Potter games, and Order of the Phoenix is the best one yet!

[Anonymous] gave it a5:
While the graphics are very impressive and the music great, the game play is just above clunky and the storyline is rushed. 90% of the game is completing tedious chores like finding other peoples belongings and tiding the grounds. the rest isn't more more fun than that. the full scale, interactive hogwarts is the highlight of the game, but after running the grounds a hundred or more times to hang pictures or mop floors, it wears very thin. buy it used.

Henry M. gave it a7:
The game is not that good, i don't like the graphics, and hogwarts is too big to explore, easy to get lost. what i liked about that game is that i can make spells as harry, ron and hermione, and that parts that i can play as harry's godfather and harry's headmaster dumbelldoor (XD).

Pablo R. gave it a6:
Half of the game is walking around. The other half is rotating the control. No variety. Not way of losing... It also makes you do stupid stuff like get a camera off the roof. When you can just levitate it with the spell they teach you.
