Harvest Moon gets under your skin that way. You'd never think it would be half as much fun as it inevitably turns out to be...Take our word for it and give this one a try.

Of all the Harvest Moon games, Save the Homeland easily has the most solid storyline.

Immersive and fun. It's not the type of game you play to beat as fast as you can. It's the kind of game you'll play a little bit every week, for many, many weeks to come.

Easily the best Harvest Moon yet. [Jan 2002, p.222]

Delightfully open-ended. [Dec 2001, p.164]

A simplified interface and a stronger focus on plot may alienate some fans of previous games in the series, but theres an outside chance it will broaden the appeal to a wider audience.

It's fun for a while, but let's face some facts here farming is a job, not a game! [Dec 2001, p.93]

I was disappointed and if you are a fan of the HM games, you will be disappointed too.

About as much fun as watching your tomatoes grow...If youve got an agricultural attitude, patience, and a hankering for steady and safe gameplay, you just might be a Harvest Moonie.

Its the strangest example of pointless effort which turns out to be fun. Avoid real life chores to do virtual ones. Thats my motto!

It's still too boring and esoteric an experience for some of us to even take seriously. Add an extra point to our score for Save The Homeland if you're a fan of the series, or feel free to ignore whatever we say.

Your mileage will vary with your patience. [Dec 2001, p.105]
All Game Guide
The potentially rewarding aspects of the game are hampered by an overly rigid structure that works at cross-purposes to its non-linearity.

Andy L. gave it a9:
This was definitly the best Harves Moon game of the series. Not only did it bring a great suprise but it also had very nice grahics. I gave it a 9/10 because there are not enough upgrades for your house, only 4 types of crops you can raise, and only 4 animals!
Candace M. gave it a10:
