Justice League Heroes may offer teams of two instead of teams of four when you play, but its superior two-player dynamic and far superior story make Justice League Heroes more fun than "Marvel Ultimate Alliance," despite the eye-candy edge held by Activision’s title.

If you’re a fan of the genre and you’ve got a friend who wants in on it too, then I really can’t think of any good reason not to grab this one immediately and dive into it.

The environments are beautiful and highly detailed, also are the destructible elements like the vehicles, trees and newspaper stands.

That's where Justice League Heroes shines: its ability to suck you in and make you forget about the real world's ills while you focus on that rampaging robot problem that Metropolis seems to have every Tuesday.

With a great cast of characters, tons of unlockables, and a solid single-player campaign JLH is worth picking up for fans of the comics. Casual gamers looking for more bang for their buck may want to wait to get their hands on "Marvel Ultimate Alliance."

Heroes is a relatively simple game that, at times, feels like "X-Men Legends" with DC character models. Still, the chance to take control of some of the most beloved superheroes on the planet is one that you just can't pass up.

One of the most celebrated super heroes team gets a pretty decent outing, with intelligent level design and plenty of variety in the gameplay.

A repetitive action game with comic book heroes. The lack of variation and camera issues are its biggest problems. The game is at its best when playing with a friend. [Jan 2007]
Just RPG
Fans of the DC Universe should more than likely love how much work went into the game to make it actually seem like the comics.

It's a familiar formula, but Justice League Heroes offers something interesting by blending dungeon-crawling convention with comic book heroics.

The most disappointing aspect of JLH is simply being forced to play as heroes you might not necessarily want to play as. I don’t see any reason why the levels couldn’t have been designed a little more creatively to allow for any combination of heroes.

While its dungeon crawler roots make for a slightly repetitive action game, Justice League Heroes is packed with all the right goodies to make this a fun new series with a lot to offer.

It's ultimately still hacking and slashing, but it's hacking and slashing done pretty well. [Holiday 2006, p.84]
GamingTrend
The game really falls flat, and feels more like a hack and slash title than a superhero game.

On the plus side, this is the first game that successfully makes Superman a fun character to play.

You'll likely have fun with Justice League Heroes if you enjoy the classic dungeon crawl games that Snowblind has previously developed, and even moreso if you're a fan of comic books and the Justice League of America in particular.

The arcade-style fist fights can get a little repetitive but DC Comic fans should get a thrill out of teaming up their favourite characters.

Justice here isn't always pretty. But it gets the job done. Barely. [Dec. 2006, p.68]

As good, if not slightly better than Marvel Ultimate Alliance - it really just depends which company's heroes you prefer. [Christmas 2006, p.82]
Gaming Target
Like a good sack of White Castle cheeseburgers Justice League Heroes isn’t very good quality, and yet it’s still satisfying in some strange way.

The lack of character selection throughout most of the game, the limit of two-players, and a few frustrating moments when special attacks decide not to work take away from what could have been a stellar superhero title.

JLH is a lot of fun, especially if you're a fan of the major characters.

Every hero has a weakness, and Justice League Heroes' kryptonite is its laughably lame story. Wait a second, wasn't this game written by an actual comic writer? That's why it's sad that the story is frickin' terrible.

My suggestion: Get the most from this game by playing with your own superfriends. [Dec. 2006, p.123]

The story is dull, the locations sparse and empty, and the camera is extremely annoying most of the time. [Issue #147, p.80]
IGN
The core of the game works well. In fact, if you just admired it from afar, you might mistake JLH for a great game. But the level design is as basic and uninspired as it can get and the enemies are just an endless throng of nameless robots and Martians.

We can't pretend that Justice League is anything but a mindless beat-em-up. [Dec. 2006, p.138]
Games Radar (in-house)
If you're looking for groundbreaking gameplay and a thrilling story - or even differences between the Xbox and PS2 versions, other than HD support for Xbox - you'll be disappointed. Justice League Heroes is a pretty standard action RPG that's neither offensive nor alluring.

This game lacks Batman's attitude, Green Lantern's gadgets, The Flash's quickness, and Superman's strength. It's a mediocre action-RPG through and through.

Justice League Heroes is not perfect, and it’s definitely not innovative, but it makes a solid action adventure out of the familiar gameplay and well-loved characters.

The game’s RPG spin is a positive one, and the potential for multi-player missions certainly lifts Snowblind Studio’s effort above the banal, but the superheroes that the developer has attempted to honour here deserve much more bang for their buck.

While a decent dungeon crawler in its own right, it just feels unimpressive in comparison to its rival.

While a decent dungeon crawler in its own right, it just feels unimpressive in comparison to its rivals. Unless you must have a DC Comics dungeon crawler, you'd be better off looking at "Marvel Ultimate Alliance."

Being a superhero should be exciting, not a drab slog through a series of boring corridors, right? [Christmas 2006, p.76]
Game Chronicles
“X-Men: Legends” did everything Justice League Heroes tried to do and did it so much better. What’s worse is that this game came out well after “Legends” yet showed no effort to improve on their standards or try anything innovative.

The most distinguishing feature of Justice League Heroes is its complete lack of any. The game’s one, toted new feature, the ability to pick up rocks and sticks, is literally primitive.

George L. gave it a9:
Finally, a GOOD DC game has finally arrived. Personally, I feel that this is the best super hero game I've played so far. The major difference between this and Marvel Ultimate Allience/X-Men Legends is that this game has only 2 characters to play with, allowing for more strategy, more difficulty, and more individual strength. In MUA, I played it with a friend and we got bored of it rather quickly because the game was too easy. 4 players can easily take out even some of the super villians without having to worry about much of anything. Justice League Heroes doesn't have that problem. 2 Players offer more need to strategize and not just blindly jump in and kick some butt. Also, if you happen to be by yourself, you won't die on the spot like you will in MUA. With good graphics, good sound, and a GREAT storyline, I personally say that I had the most fun playing this superhero game than all the others. This is the best superhero game for me. I just never thought it would've been a DC game...
Caio K. gave it a9:
Really good game! I've always been a Marvel fan, but I have to admit that this game is so much better than x-men legends. You have fewer heroes, less powers and less stages, but much more fun! The game is more dynamic and less confuse. The heroes have less super powers, but they are so much more fun to use. If you are not a RPG freak who wants to spend hours and hours working on the ability of your heroes, you going to love this game!
Matt H. gave it a7:
A pretty good game but far too easy! i much prefer marvel ultimate alliance!
Renzo C. gave it a6:
I just finished the game with my boyfriend and we are both dissapointed, at medium level it was too easy.... we paid too much for this crappy game.
Jenna S. gave it a9:
I love this game. There are some major flaws like the top down camera and character selection problems BUT, this is the onyl game that lets me be DC heroes actually rather well. So This game is just my inner geek fix.
Andrew J. gave it an8:
I'm a big DC fan but unfortunately I wasn't overly thrilled with this game. The storyline is good though.
Gremer gave it a9:
As one of the biggest Batman and DC Comics fan there is, I could honestly say that JLH is THE main reason why I wanted to buy a PS2. To play as Batman, Superman, Flash, Aquaman, is a dream come true. Fans of beat-em ups and adventure/action games will be pleased by this game. A host of nice features like energy upgrades and the like. Have to admit though that once you finish the game, the replay value is where the game falls a bit short. Still, its a nice touch that you can maximize all your characters abilities and play the game at an even higher difficulty. can't wait for part 2! Red Tornado, Plastic Man, Dr. Fate pls!
