Summary
In response to popular demand, Karaoke Revolution 3 will let karaoke crooners sing with - and compete against - friends with the addition of duel microphone support and exciting new modes for two mic gameplay. In addition, Karaoke Revolution Volume 3 includes more than 35 new songs. Duets mode lets aspiring pop stars play as a team and shoot for high scores by singing along to classic karaoke duet tunes such as "Under Pressure," "Love Shack" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." Players can even practice their separate parts and learn how to harmonize with each other to achieve the perfect score. For some friendly competition, two players can square off and take turns singing every other phrase in a song while joining together during the chorus in Sing-Off mode. The player with the most points at the end of the track wins. Knockout mode offers the fiercest karaoke battle yet, pitting players against each other while singing the same song in unison. A battle meter keeps track of the gamers' progress and when it fills up for one player, the other is knocked out! The collection of well-known tunes includes "Beat It," "Killing Me Softly," "New York, New York" and "You're The One That I Want." [Konami]

Boasting another large assortment of popular tunes, Volume 3 also sidesteps the pitfalls of its predecessor with the inclusion of duets—a seemingly simple addition that changes the entire face of the game and elevates the series to a new high.

It may seem kinda gimmicky, and karaoke might not seem like the most appealing of activities to the average gamer, but in the right company, Karaoke Revolution 3 will provide a potentially fun-filled night of superstar singing in front of your TV.

The third volume includes features that rocket its entertainment value to an entirely unparalleled level. [Dec 2004, p.115]

There's no doubt that it's yet another improvement on the concept. The game rocks...and so will you. [Dec 2004, p.118]

If only the game had downloadable tunes, it'd be perfect. As is, it's still a must-have, whether you sing like Frank Sinatra or Frank the Garbageman.

Volume 3 has more songs, better variety, more character, more costumes, and more venues than its predecessors. Most importantly, it adds a new twist to the series with duet modes.

The regular duets mode lets two singers meld their vocal stylings on karaoke duet standards like "Love Shack," adding the points into a composite score. [Dec 2004, p.106]

Truly is a no-brainer. So long as you have at least a slight interest in karaoke, you should get it--whether or not you already own any of the previous volumes.

With a wonderful assortment of tunes, characters, settings and the ability to use two separate headsets or microphones for duets, you will certainly find plenty to enjoy here.

Better song quality and duets are what make Volume 3 a must have for fans of the series. And don't forget, this is a heck of a party game to pull out at your kids birthday party, or if you're just having some friends over.

Probably the best vocal series available at this time for any console.

The inclusion of a duet is the furthest thing from a gimmick. It's an evolution that makes a party title even more appropriate for a quick get together.

A true sequel with its sweet new multiplayer modes. [Holiday 2004, p.80]

I'm still bummed that the single player arcade mode from the original hasn't returned, but what's here is good fun - particularly when sobriety is lacking. [Nov 2004, p.76]

The duet mode extends the replay value of the game considerably and the solid playlist will keep people happy for a long time.

While remarkably little else has been tweaked or improved, the two-mic mode adds tremendously to the value of the party package. [Nov 2004, p.158]

A handful of tracks will have you scratching your head, wondering why they were included, but you’ll forget all about that once you’re centerstage, and the beat drops for Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.”

I'm hoarse because roughly three-quarters of the tracks are complicated tunes that require impressive vocal acrobatics and extensive falsetto, which is torture for someone who normally sings in the baritone range.

Overall, the production value is top-notch; on screen characters react and interact to the music ' audience members wave fists to the beat and band member appear to actually be performing guitar solos and drumming ' and the whole game has a nice polish to it.

By adding a sorely needed feature--namely, the ability to sing duets--Karaoke Revolution Volume 3 is most definitely a worthy addition to the rapidly expanding franchise.

If you already own the original and Volume 2, it makes sense to expand your horizons and grab this one, too, if only for the cool multiplayer modes.

The idea of including duets in Karaoke Revolution seems like a natural one given the scope of the title itself. Hell, some of the most emotionally engaging or memorable songs are duets. However, the poor execution of the feature, along with the lack of innovation for the title, makes Volume 3 much less appealing than the previous games in the series.

Another concern I have for this series, is besides the new songs, outfits, duet modes, and a few new characters, the game is virtually the same as the previous two. With too little additions each time around, I begin to wonder where my 40 bucks is going.

Thankfully this game includes a pitch meter which measures the input pitch against the actual pitch and shows the singer the difference (i.e. if he or she is flat or sharp).

Woo-hoo! This game rocks my socks!!!!
Kitty K. gave it a 5:
I like the fact that there is duet mode, but there are sound problems that it messes up the game play and the singers that sing the songs are not in the least bit comparable to the real singers.
Phil HotDog gave it a 3:
I had more fun in Git On Da miC.
Dol sol gave it a 10:
